Exploring The DC Cinematic Universe: Justice League Pt.2

Justice League Pt. 2
Release Date: June 14th, 2019

What is the Justice League?: DC's greatest superheroes came together to form The Justice League in order to protect the Earth from threats that were too great to take on individually. Created in 1960 by Gardner Fox, the League has had many iconic tales told over it's 50 year history battling the likes of Darkseid and The Injustice Gang.

Director: Zack Snyder (Man Of Steel)

Why?: By 2019 Zack Snyder will have dedicated the last ten years of his life to DC comic movies. He will have directed Watchmen, Man Of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Justice League Pt.1. Tell me any director with a more impressive comic resume than that? You can't. Watchmen was a superhero ensemble film and personally I think Zack did an amazing job with that story. He will be able to put the group's dynamics on full display while providing us with captivating action sequences.

Proposed Story: After Brainiac has weakened the world's defenses in Justice League Pt. 1, Lex Luthor forms the Legion Of Doom (or Injustice Gang either name works) to counteract the Justice League and destroy his Kryptonian enemy once and for all.

Inspired By: This film should be inspired by Justice League and Justice League Unlimited's episodes "Injustice For All" Pt. 1+2,  "Secret Society" Pt. 1+2, and "I am Legion".  Also throw in a dash of Grant Morrison's JLA storyline "Rock Of Ages" for good measure.

This was the most badass use of any song ever

Lead Characters (Cast): Our heroes remain the same all while a team of their arch-nemisises are just beginning to form.

1. Superman/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill)

Why?: He is the Team Leader/ Resident Boy Scout. Cavill is a beefcake.

2. Batman/Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck)

Why?: Batfleck will have graced the silver screen two times by the release this film. If all goes well he could be the definitive version of Batman. He is the team's tactician and greatest mind.

3. Wonder Woman/Diana Prince (Gal Gadot)

Why?: Wonder Woman is one of my favorite characters. She will have appeared 3 times in the DCU already. She is a expert fighter and part of the Holy Trinity.

4. The Flash/Barry Allen (Ezra Miller)

Why?: Grant Gustin is killin' it on The Flash TV show, so let's hope Ezra Miller can do the same in the movie-verse. He definitely has the acting chops to do so.

5. Green Lantern/Hal Jordan (Jensen Ackles)

Why?: Hal and Barry's friendship will have become stronger by this movie and be integral to both their story lines.

6. Cyborg/Victor Stone (Ray Fisher)

Why?: Vic Stone is the tech guy. He also can beat ass if need be.

7. Aquaman/Arthur Curry (Jason Mamoa)

Why?: The Justice League needs the ocean on their side and Aquaman is the king of the Seven Seas. Mamoa is a physical specimen and hopefully will have displayed how cool this character is by the time this movie rolls around.

Legion Of Doom

1. Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg)

Why?: Eisenberg will have played Luthor twice by now (In BVS and SS) so the general audience should really know what makes him tick. He wants to be the most powerful man on Earth so he is making one final effort to destroy his alien foe by bringing together the world's strongest villains.

2. The Joker (Jared Leto)

Why?: Joker would be the uninvited member of the team much like he was in "Injustice For All". My guess is that Lex and Joker will have had met before in Suicide Squad and because of events that took place Lex wants nothing to do with the crazy clown. So what makes Lex let Mr. J join the team? Well, because Ben Affleck is playing an older Batman it should be expected that he has faced off against the Joker before (perhaps many times).  And because of this he will prove his worth to the team with of his extensive knowledge of the knowing the way the Bat thinks.
Leto has been rumored for the Clown Prince of Crime and I'm a big fan of it. His Joker should be more unpredictable and comedic than Ledger's chaotic interpretation.

3. Black Manta (Will Smith)

Why?: All the biggest guns from the Justice League's rogues gallery will be on hand and it's not a party without Black Manta. He adds the water angle and he fucking despises Aquaman. Enough said.

4. Captain Cold (Gabriel Macht)

Why?: Flash's biggest baddie should be invited to join the Legion. He will have been previously introduced in The Flash. Maybe at this point he even has cold powers and not just a gun.

5. Bizzaro (Henry Cavill)

Why?: Lex Luthor creates Bizarro from DNA obtained from General Zod's corpse and Superman. His relationship to Luthor should be modeled after Geoff John's "Forever Evil" run. In which Bizarro is a loyal yet simple-minded protector of Lex, who Lex actually grows to care about.

6. Cheetah (Maggie Q)

Why?: Cheetah like Joker will have fought her arch foe Wonder Woman before. Her backstory and hatred for WW are not too complex to introduce into this story.

7. Deathstroke (Manu Bennet)

Why?: I love Deathstroke. You love Deathstroke. We all love Deathstroke. Lex surely has the capital to secure DC's most ruthless assassin for his new squad.

8. Sinestro (Daniel Craig)

Why?: Sinestro was Hal Jordan's mentor who later became his greatest enemy. He has his yellow ring that controls fear, but has yet to form his Sinestro Corps. His introduction here provides a great lead-in for the new Green Lantern movie if WB chooses to adapt "The Sinestro Corp War". Craig is an outside the box choice, but he has done well portraying villainous characters before in Road To Perdition and Layer Cake.

Cameo: A fun little teaser for a potential Justice League Pt. 3.

 Darkseid (Michael Ironside)

Why?: Teasing Darkseid and his Parademons as the villains of a potential sequel. Ironside has voiced Darkseid in various DC animation and I would love to see him continue to do so in the movies.

Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens Teaser Trailer!!!

This is definitely the best 90 seconds you will spend all day because STAR WARS IS BACK BABY! (Without Jar Jar Binks, Hayden Christensen, Disney songs, or any signature JJ Abrams' lens fares to speak of!)

The Millennium Falcon has never looked so good. Not sure about the cross joint lightsaber, but whatever still cannot wait!

The Flash "Power Outage" Reviews/Thoughts

The Flash is hit hard with a cold dose of normalcy this week as his latest foe's powers leave him without his.

Episode Description: During a battle with a meta-human named Farooq (a.k.a. Blackout), Barry loses his super speed when his electrical energy is siphoned away by his foe. Meanwhile, Joe, Iris and Eddie are all taken hostage at the Central City Police Station by none other than the Clock King.

High Points:

  • Getting more scenes of Harrison Wells out of his wheel chair and interacting with his future tech
  • Barry showing some character weaknesses he will have to overcome (getting cocky, becoming dependent on his powers)
  • Another all-time PR shattered this week: The new lowest speed: 7 mph
  • Two villains this week!
  • Who says only the heroes of Arrow can pay Central City a visit? (Also does this mean that the villains that Barry faces could potentially rear their heads in Starling City?)
  • Dr. Wells essentially sending Girder off to die so Barry would be safe
  • Dr. Wells and Barry seem to butt heads for the first time (could this be a preview of what is to come?)
  • "You stopped thinking about your powers and finally started connecting with them" - Caitlin Snow (This may be just a line but it sounds like the speed force could be hinted at here...)
  • Iris finally stepping it up and bringing it to the Clock King
  • The weekly "Is he good or bad?" moment with Dr. Wells
Low Points:
  • Barry's "mental block" wasn't really explained, nor did it seem to make sense
  • "I need more speed" - Dr. Wells (This is what Wells said to Barry after saying that he needed the Flash for curing diseases and paralysis and whatnot..I am not sure how that translates)
  • Iris seemed to get over the Flash's absence at the hostage situation immediately
  • Nobody replaced Barry's mug...Barry loved that mug...

There are two types of heroes in this world: The ones who love their mugs, and the ones who couldn't give a shit

Verdict: Another stepping stone for the show this week: Two villains in one night! In one corner we had the savvy vet. from Starling City, The Clock King. Though the Flash never confronted him, his hostage situation was still very entertaining, and it was kinda of cool to see the unspoken communication between Joe and Eddie that led to the King's demise. In the other corner we had the newcomer from Central City, Blackout, a character so obscure that he isn't even from the original DC universe. Some people may know him from the alternate universe that is featured in the Flashpoint storyline. In tonight's episode he reminded me a lot of Electro from The Amazing Spiderman 2, (without the glowing blue skin, of course) due to his ability to siphon electricity as both a method of sustaining himself and as a method of attacking others. I enjoyed the whole "Barry without his powers" story but I really didn't buy into the "mental block" that kept him from using his powers after they recharged him. It seemed like it was forced in there just to prolong the time that Barry was powerless for. However, this week's episode was truly more about building upon Dr. Well's character than it was Barry's. We got a lot of screen time with Harrison in his back room consulting with his future-seeing computer and I found it very interesting that the future changed when Barry "lost" his powers. We now know that Dr. Wells is not just here for the ride, but that he is here specifically to guide Barry towards the events tat lead to his disappearance in 2024. We also learned the lengths at which he is willing to go to make sure that it happens (sacrificing the lives of others to protect that of Barry's). Now I am just going to say that Professor Zoom is usually categorized as having an unhealthy obsession with The Flash and Dr. Wells does spend an awful lot of time in that back room of his thinking about Barry... Just a thought. A lot of villainy this week and a lot of character development means a 7.5 out of 10 is in order.

Thanks for checking out the review. What did you think of this week's episode? What do you think will happen in future episodes? Let us know your thoughts both in the comments and on the Caped Informers twitter @Caped_Informers. Next week is the big week! On Tuesday The Flash kicks off the two part Arrow/Flash crossover with "Flash vs. Arrow" and on Wednesday Arrow concludes it with "The Brave and the Bold". Check back here next week for reviews following the episodes!

That One Time The Flash Made a Real Ass Out of Me: Last week when Barry put Tony Woodward away there was not a doubt in my mind that Tony would someday break out of his prison and Barry would be in severe trouble of having his identity revealed. I said that plain and simple in my review. One week later Tony Woodward is dead. I thought I knew the game you were playing The Flash, but tonight you essentially said "Shut up Ryan, you don't know shit about us", and too that I say well played.

Oscar Isaac Will Be X-Men Villain Apocalypse!

Variety is reporting that Oscar Isaac (Sucker Punch) will play Apocalypse, a powerful ancient mutant and X-Men villain, in FOX's upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. There are a lot of rumors about the follow up to the critically acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past (such casting younger versions of Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey), but little has been confirmed. Director Brian Singer (Superman Returns) was quoted recently as saying "'Apocalypse' will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle." Sure sounds like Apocalypse will be raising the stakes for the X-Men-verse. What do you think of Isaac as Apocalypse? Sound off in the comments. X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27th, 2016.

Oscar Isaac is on a roll. First he nabs a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and now he is Apocalypse. It's always a treat to see a great actor like Isaac who has spent years working his way up the food chain get some awesome opportunities in franchise films. With his resume I have no doubt he will give us a fantastic rendition of En Sabah Nur.

Arrow "Draw Back Your Bow" Review

Raylicity gets hot and heavy as Ollie gets himself a new "girlfriend" in an all new Arrow. (SPOILERS!)

Synopsis: Oliver must stop an Arrow-obsessed serial killer, Carrie Cutter, who is convinced that The Arrow is her one true love and will stop at nothing to get his attention. Unfortunately, her way of getting his attention is to kill people. Meanwhile, Ray asks Felicity to be his date for a work dinner with important clients. Thea auditions new DJs for Verdant and meets Chase, a brash DJ with whom she immediately clashes.

High Points

  • Flashback to Slade's Invasion (Hello Cupid!)
  • Brandon Routh is a beefcake (Maybe he should suit down rather than suit up)
  • Palmer Technologies is now in business
  • Sherwood Florist!! Outsiders!! (Comic references)
  • Roy is really affected by his recent revelation
  • Papa Diggle is the best friend a man could ask for
  • Amy Gumenick (Supernatural) is scary yet sexy as Cupid (Hello Lover!)
  • Cupid motivations and delusions are explained
  • Felicity is the prettiest girl at the prom and the boardroom
  • Cupid is heading for the Suicide Squad (Her and Harley would be a fun combo)
  • #Raylicity
  • 4 Love stories in one episode (That is high even for CW standards)
  • ATOM EXO-SUIT!!!
  • Enter Captain Boomerang
I thought Yellow Eyes killed you?

Low Points

  • Sorry, but no one gives a shit about Thea's DJ auditions (Expect when "Turn Down For What" was playing)
  • Ray has been good to Felicity, but her sudden all in attraction towards him felt forced (Could it be because he was shirtless or that 10 million dollar necklace around her neck?)
  • Besides Katana's, the action was kinda weak

Verdict: Usually the romantic elements of Arrow are the weakest part of the show, but bringing in a villain like Cupid added a fun spark to that dull mix. Cupid (co-created by Arrow/Flash show runner Andrew Kreisberg) pursued the Arrow by murdering people as Ray Palmer pursued Felicity by throwing bling her way. It led to an interesting parallel and to us seeing an Ollie that we have never seen before, a jealous one. (Now you know how Slade felt, pal). Everyone's emotional story lines paid off in this one which led to "Draw Back Your Bow" not being too action heavy. Although what this episode was heavy in was setting up future heroes and baddies. Cupid is sure to make another appearance (perhaps with the Suicide Squad) and Captain Boomerang showed his ugly mug at the end. But the moments that were by far the most exciting were with Katana and Ray Palmer. In a flashback, Katana got to show off some of her badassery. Surely her role is to expand as well as her relationship with Ollie (it is definitely evolving past not doing his laundry). Now with Ray Palmer we had yet to find out if he would ever suit up as his superhero alter-ego The Atom, but this week we finally got our first big tease of his exo-suit. Maybe now we will see The Atom, Arrow, Flash, and Firestorm all suit up alongside each other by season's end. Overall "Draw Back Your Bow" gets an 8.5 out of 10. Fun episode. Cupid was a sexy and fleshed out baddie, not just some villain of the week.

Thanks for reading! What did you think of this week's episode? What did you think of Cupid? Sound off in the comments section or on our twitter @Caped_Informers. Check back regularly for weekly updates on your favorite comic book shows. In two weeks Arrow returns with the second part of it's crossover with The Flash titled "Brave and the Bold". See ya then!

Let them fight!
Felicity Smoak's Dating Record: Felicity Smoak sure has come far from dating a MIT hacktivist pussy. I think it's safe to say at this point that she is a superhero fucker. She can have any hero she wants. First Ollie, then Barry, and now Ray. Jesus, if Dick Grayson ever shows his face in Starling, there is no doubt in my mind that Felicity would get him to show her his Boy Wonder in about five minutes after he got off the train from Gotham. She is the most wanted woman in the DC universe. Props to the Bitch with Wi-Fi!

The Flash "The Flash Is Born" Review/Thoughts

This week on The Flash, Barry takes on his most relatable nemesis to date: THAT douchebag from high school. You know the one I'm talking about.

Episode Description: Barry faces off against his grade school bully, Tony Woodward (a.k.a Girder) who has acquired the power to turn his body into steel at will. Meanwhile, Detective West and Dr. Wells compare notes on the murder of Nora Allen.

High Points:
  • "Hmm..A Man of Steel..." - Dr. Harrison Wells
  • Joe West actively trying to get to the bottom of Nora's murder (asking all the tough questions)
  • Barry and Eddie starting to form a friendly relationship (Will it turn sour when Eddie turns out to be Eobard?)
  • Joe West and Dr. Harrison starting to form a friendly relationship (Will it turn sour when Dr. Wells turns out to be Eobard??)
  • Some people peak in high school. Tony Woodward peaked in elementary
  • Barry starting to learn a thing or two about fighting
  • Barry is getting a bit faster with each episode (a new PR of 837 mph)
  • Iris is writing about a man who lights on fire but doesn't burn? (Firestorm perhaps?)
  • R.I.P. "The Streak" (Oct. 2014-Nov. 2014) Hello "The Flash"
  • Professor Zoom's message to Joe at the end of the episode
 Our Usual Eobard Thawne Suspects

Low Points:
  • How does a punch from Iris knock Girder out cold when a Mach 1 punch from Barry does not?
  • There is no way that Barry revealing his identity to Tony is not going to come back to bite him in the ass at some point...
  • Barry spent a lot of time on the sidelines recovering from previous Girder encounters (made for a bit of a slower episode than past weeks)
Verdict: After a couple weeks of high-intensity name dropping on this show, The Flash returned to the villain-of-the-week scenario in this episode. Girder wasn't terrible but he isn't necessarily what I would hope for in a reoccurring nemesis for Barry, and unfortunately I get the feeling he is going to be. There is a scene in this episode where The Flash reveals himself as Barry Allen to Girder in a moment of pure stubborn pride and I just cannot see how that will not come back to haunt him later on in the show. Despite that rookie mistake, we continue to see Barry grow as a character both in his personal relationships and how he handles situations as The Flash. Joe West and Dr. Well's interactions this week made me distrust the good doctor all the more, especially when we see Eobard Thawne appear for the first time since Nora's murder to tell Joe to back off before Iris gets hurt. Of course, we do not get a clear glimpse of Professor Zoom's face, but it is quite suspicious that this would happen after Joe was grilling Dr. Wells so hard about his particle accelerator. This show is either slapping us in the face with the obvious or it is trying its hardest to get us to believe that Dr. Wells is evil when he isn't and I for one have no idea which one to believe. I know which one I want to believe though, and my reasoning for is this: If Harrison Wells is in fact Eobard Thawne, then that means Professor Zoom and Gorilla Grodd are directly connected. Think of the fun this show could have if those two teamed up to take on The Flash. Back to old tricks means back to old scores as The Flash is Born pulls out a respectable 7.0 out of 10.

Thanks for reading! What did you think of this week's episode? Who do you think Eobard Thawne really is? Arrow "Guilty" Review

Roy thinks he may have done some bad stuff while Ollie thinks Laurel's new pal Wildcat may have done some bad stuff in an all new Arrow.

High Points
  • Wildcat was a former vigilante
  • BOXING GLOVE ARROW!!
  • Roy's Confession
  • Laurel was right for once
  • Roy throws down (Sidekick vs. Sidekick)
  • Ollie doesn't abandon Roy
  • Call him Arsenal!
  • Roy recalls what happened in last season's "Seeing Red"

IT FUCKING HAPPENED!!
Low Points

  • Ollie doubting Ted Grant (Get off your high horse Ollie, you are a vigilante and you have killed people too)
  • Flashback tied into the story, but were weak
  • Lame villain who is easily defeated (Terrible frame up btw)
  • Strangely Diggle wanted to abandon Roy
Verdict: Revelations about Roy and Ted Grant were the highlight of this week's Arrow, but overall this entire episode kind off lagged. Ted Grant's former sidekick was a terrible villain who was easily handed an ass whooping by Team Arrow. His revenge scheme against Ted made for a weak main conflict. Roy and Ollie's scenes were nicely woven into the story though. I'm glad Ollie decided to keep Roy around. Nothing happened on the League of Assassins front and with the end of the episode setting up Cupid, it seems they will not be featured next week either. Overall "Guilty" gets an 6.5 out of 10. You are better than this Arrow.

The Flash "Plastique" Review/Thoughts

The Flash returned this week after a brief hiatus, and with it came new tricks in Barry's repertoire, more backstory on the suspicious Harrison Wells, and the first meta-human to not be evil since The Flash himself.

Episode Description: After a massive explosion is caused by Plastique, (a meta-human who makes items spontaneously combust when she touches them) General Eiling arrives in Central City looking to utilize her powers.

High Points:
  • Barry starting to get daring with his powers (running up walls and on water)
  • Barry's Super Sobriety (he should grab a drink with Captain America sometime)
  • "The Streak" seems to be the pre-Flash name for Barry, much like "The Hood" was the pre-Arrow name for Oliver
  • General Wade "Eugene Krabs" Eiling makes his debut (potential for Captain Atom?)
  • The scene where The Flash confronts Iris, mostly because Barry vibrated his vocal chords to disguise his voice
  • Joe West wants Barry and Iris and none of this Eddie and Iris crap
  • Plastique's homemade bombs (basically metal balls she touched)
  • Our weekly dose of suspicious behavior from Harrison Wells, this time connecting him to General Eiling
  • Gorilla Grodd!!

"Can ya feel it Mr. Krabs? Can ya feel it Mr. Krabs?"

Low Points
  • There seemed like there was potential for Plastique's character had she remained alive...
  • I am still not enjoying Iris. Her obsession with The Flash seems like it is only there to serve as the force that drives her and Barry apart
  • Every time The Flash rushed to Plastique's aid during this episode, Plastique got shot...

Verdict: The Flash is starting to really build on his repertoire of skills which is exciting to see. Not only is he starting to run fast enough to cross water and scale buildings, but he is also getting into the powers that stem from his ability to vibrate parts of his body at super speed. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I think it is only a matter of time until we start to see him vibrate through solid objects. I was a bit disappointed that Plastique only lasted one episode. Although she isn't the biggest name in the world of DC villains, she is one of the main villains to a character who we know is on the way: Firestorm (Robbie Amell). She is also the wife of Captain Atom, which brings me to my next point: General Wade Eiling is shaping up to have a reoccurring presence in this show. Not only does Eiling tend to have connections to Cadmus but he is also usually the one responsible for the creation of Captain Atom and Major Force. Dr. Wells did say that he liked to experiment on his own men, so would it be completely out of the question to start speculating on an appearance by Nathaniel Adam? Also for the first time since this show began, I am suddenly very unsure that Harrison Wells is the man I thought he was (Eobard Thawne). It has suddenly become very clear that both he and Eiling have something to do with Gorilla Grodd, who may be making a sooner appearance then we originally anticipated. We have only seen glimpses so far, but I for one am pumped to see Gorilla Grodd in live-action. Another great episode that dropped a lot of big names and opened up a lot of future possibilities means that an 8.5 out of 10 is in order.

Thanks for reading the review. This show just drops names left and right so let us know what you think in the comments or on twitter @Caped_Informers. Rumor: Margot Robbie Will Play Harley Quinn

Collider is reporting that Margot Robbie (Tarzan) has officially signed on to David Ayer's Suicide Squad and will play fan favorite Harley Quinn. This comes just two days after rumors said that Jared Leto (American Psycho) will play a new iteration of the Joker in the upcoming DC villains filled flick. If all of this is true let's hope to one day see Batfleck face off against these two. Do you think Robbie and Leto will become DC's most psychotic love birds? Sound off in the comments

The Walking Dead "Self Help" Review

This week instead of slumming it with Beth we get to hang out with Abraham and his crew on a all new The Walking Dead. (MILD SPOILERS!!)

Synopsis: Abraham was intent on leaving the church to head to D.C., and it looks like he encounters trouble along the way. Glenn doesn't appear to be in top form either. The group will have to push through to survive the challenges they face and each other.

High Points
  • Finally a focus on Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene
  • Flashbacks to Abraham's past
  • Intense look at walker killing from Eugene's POV
  • Some Cable Nudity (SEX!)
  • Eugene is a perv and no one is surprises
  • Zombies are really bad at wet t-shirt contests
  • The truth comes out
  • Great performances from Cudlitz (Abraham) and McDermitt (Eugene)
  • Fantastic comic book parallels

Abraham is no Keanu Reeves
Low Points
  • A slug would make it to DC faster than "The Group" will
  • The scenes at night were so dark that it was hard to see what was happening
  • Kind of slow

Verdict: Abraham and his crew have been on The Walking Dead for almost a full season  now. They have had very little focus upon who they are or how they came to join Rick's group. So it was great that this week saw that crew so well represented. Abraham's personality and history are spot on with his comic counterparts as are Eugene and Rosita's characterizations. With the focus upon them this was really an emotional episode for Abraham. The ep did a fantastic job at splicing in Abraham's flashbacks into the current story to make the biggest emotional jab land beautifully. Reminded me a lot of Michonne's flashback episode last season. Overall I give "Self Help" a 8.0 out of 10. It didn't move the story along a lot, but it did drop one long awaited comic book bombshell. Also had SEX!

Gotta love Cable

Rumor: Jared Leto May Play The Joker In "Suicide Squad"

Multiple outlets have reported that Oscar winner Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) is eyeing the role of the Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker, in DC/WB's upcoming Suicide Squad film. The word on the street is that WB wanted Ryan Gosling (Drive) for the role, but he was unwilling to sign a deal that spanned multiple films. Now it seems Leto is their man. Yesterday he was interviewed by the Hollywood Reporter in which he said "I do [have my eye on one project.] I am excited about what's happening. There are incredible opportunities and I'm very grateful for them. I'm looking forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It's going to be an exciting 2015." When asked for further details on the project Leto responded "I've sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure." The trade went on to confirm that the "exciting project" is Suicide Squad. So throw Leto into the mix of actors rumored for David Ayer's film alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy, and Jesse Eisenberg reprising his Lex Luthor. Talk about an all star cast. Suicide Squad is hitting theaters August 5th, 2016.

             ComicBookMovie

HOLY SHIT!! This is exciting news. I enjoy Leto's work and I believe he could definitely provide a fun new take on the iconic character. His Joker  should be more fun-loving (If you count mass murder as a fun nighttime activity) than Heath's. More Mark Hamill Joker if you will.

David Ayer reportedly has recently written in The Joker into his version of the script. So I hope Mr. J's role is antagonistic to the Squad rather than being a member. His inclusion in the film also allows for an easy avenue to introduce Harley Quinn and their amazing Joker-Harley interactions. Maybe Ayer will take inspiration from Batman: Assault on Arkham. Cause I would love this see this scene in live action.

Jesse Eisenberg is reportedly reprising his role of Lex Luthor in the flick (Which I wrote a piece about which can be read by clicking here). That means we could have a Joker and Lex World Finest-style team up! Now that is fucking sexy. I would be just as excited to see that as I will be to see Batman and Superman team up earlier that year. DC duos for days.

Lastly if Jared does play Joker that means Batman once killed The Joker. Let's look at the tape!

Arrow "The Secret Origin Of Felicity Smoak" Review

Felicity's mom shows up in town just as a mistake from Felicity's past rears it's ugly head on this week's Arrow. (Mild Spoilers!)

Synopsis: When Starling City is brought to a halt by a cyber attack, Oliver and Felicity (probably mostly Felicity) have a challenging time containing it. Because timing is never what it should be, that's when Felicity's mother Donna (Charlotte Ross) decides to drop in for a surprise visit.
High Points
  • That opening montage was amazing
  • Felicity's mom has got it going on
  • Sauron's Eye takes over the city's power grid
  • Insight into Felicity's past (The Lisbeth Salander of Starling City)
  • References to Santa Presca (Bane!) and Coast City (Green Lantern!)
  • Brandon Routh's Palmer continues to shine. His interactions with Felicity are always a treat.
  • Love Roy and Daddy Diggle in action
  • Ted Grant is ready to teach and hopefully Laurel's ready to learn
  • IS THAT REALLY SARA'S KILLER? Holy shit!
Fuck Gilmore Girls, it's all about the Smoak Girls!
Low Points
  • Hacktivists are huge pussies (Not a good look Felicity)
  • Laurel is becoming aggressive as fuck (Call in the Riot Squad!)
  • Pretty obvious who was behind the hacking
Verdict: Arrow was without everyone's favorite hacker last week, so it's great this episode was centered on Felicity. Looking into her MIT past was not what I expected. The episode was originally titled "Oracle" and I was praying she was roommates with Barbara Gordon in college (A guy can dream can't he?). Instead Felicity was a goth hacktivist with a douchey boyfriend (Barbara would have been much cooler). Along with her backstory, Felicity's mom was introduced and she was much different than her genius daughter. It was a cute look at what makes Felicity who she is. Action-wise this week was slow and so was moving the overall narrative for season. I was gonna give the episode another 7.0, but that final moment that possibly revealed who killed Sara (My number one guess) bumped the score up to an 8.0 out of 10. Did he/she/it kill Sara? We will have to wait and see.

Gotham "Penguin's Umbrella" Review

Jim Gordon meets a new friend named Victor Zsasz while Penguin pits idiot mob bosses against one another on this week's Gotham.

Synopsis: As violence between Maroni (guest star David Zayas) and Falcone continues to escalate, Penguin reveals a new element of his manipulative strategy, forcing Gordon to deal with the consequences of his decision to spare Penguin’s life.

High Points:
  • Jim Gordon is the local badass
  • Enter Victor Zsasz
  • Penguin amps up the mob war by playing both sides of his chess board
  • Love how Penguin has Maroni's ear
  • Beating or a bullet?
  • Jim and Harvey attempt to enforce the law
  • Harvey Bullock is a chubby chaser and I dig it
  • A fun twist for the Penguin at the end
  • No Riddler!
OSWALD FOR MAYOR!
Low Points:
  • I would rather drink Mama June's piss than hear Fish Mooney speak
  • Falcone would rather play with his cocks (chickens) than his new girlfriend
  • Much prefer lone serial killer Zsasz to mob enforcer (I know its early on, but only 28 kills so far that is some weak shit, Victor)
  • When Penguin said "Honk, Honk", it was bad enough, but actually having him explain a goose noise to Maroni made me lose faith in humanity.
  • Barbara Kean is an absolute dumbass
  • Why is Vic Zsasz's ringtone "Funky Town"?
Verdict: Thank god for the Penguin. Week in and week out, he is the best part of this program. So because he was the focus this week, it was my favorite episode of Gotham so far (which ain't saying much, but still). Ozzy is playing for keeps and has all three mob bosses at each other's throats. He is the best "politician" I have ever seen. When I go to the voting booth tomorrow I'm voting Cobblepot. Elsewhere Jim and Harvey actually attempted to deal out some real justice this week. Usually their cases are the weakest parts of the show, but surprisingly going after the Mayor and Falcone was very compelling. Good on you Gotham! But none of this changes the fact that Fish Mooney needs to die. Jada Pickett Smith overplays her so much that she has become unbearable. Other characters are starting to grow on me, but Fish never will. Overall "Penguin's Umbrella" gets a 7.5 out of 10Definitely an improvement over last week.

Bald Villains: Anthony Carrigan played The Mist on The Flash a few weeks back. Tonight he was on Gotham as serial killer supreme Victor Zsasz. The question isn't will Anthony play another bald DC villain, it's how many bald DC villains will he play? My guess is 20 or 30 at the least. Just wait, he will to nab the role of Lex Luthor for Greg Bertlani's upcoming Supergirl show. You go Anthony Carrigan, you naughty boy, you!

The Walking Dead "Slabtown" Review

Beth chills out at a hospital and hums in a brand new The Walking Dead. (SPOILERS!)

High Points
  • Everybody Hates Chris! (Actor Tyler James Williams as Noah)
  • Amputations are fun
  • Beth helps kill that shithead cop Gorman
  • Short but enjoyable Walker kill montage
  • Noah crawled through a river of shit, but didn't come out clean on the other side.

The way you feel when you realize it's an all Beth episode.
Low Points
  • Everybody Hates Beth! (All the characters you like are not here this week!)
  • Oral sex must be reciprocated at this "hospital" (Give a favor show gratitude, it's only fair)
  • Extremely slow pacing
  • Power structure in hospital sucks
  • Obligatory Jesus reference to justify actions (I gotta start doing that)
  • This storyline for some reason is not over
Verdict: Can someone explain to me how Beth got her own episode? I have no personal vendetta against Emily Kinney, the actress who plays Beth, but she must have blackmail on or nude photos of show runners Scott Gimple and Robert Kirkman because there is no other reason that her character could get an entire episode dedicated to her story. That being said "Slabtown" could have been worse (At least she didn't sing, right?). Beth woke up in a strange hospital with a strange power structure and met some new shitty people and one cool dude (Noah!). The set up allowed for Beth to showcase that she has become resourceful and a good shot (cause every character must be a certified badass I guess). Now the main problem I had was this ep. was that it was filler.  It did noting to advance the storyline about going to DC. At least the final moment offered at least a semi-interesting wrinkle to Beth's tale though. But still I hope that this side story will be all wrapped up next week. Overall "Slabtown" is by far this season's weakest offering and gets a 6 out of 10. Like I said before, could have been worse.

That elevator made me miss "Well Zombie"
