Wildcat and Ras Al Ghul In 'Arrow' Season 3

SDCC strikes again! This time revealing more characters for Arrow's 3rd season. The first addition will be Ted Grant or better known as Wildcat. A few months back when people began speculating that Katie Cassidy would begin to assume the role of Canary, I mentioned that this would be a great time to bring in her mentor Wildcat. So I am pumped it is actually happening. Just perfect time to bring in the character. I love how this show is willing to bring on these lesser known characters such as Grant or Ray Palmer to fit it's needs.

Now for the huge news. The big bad of season 3 has been revealed as Batman villain Ras Al Ghul! The League of Assassins and Ras were both referenced last season, but many fans never actually expected to see the Demon's Head in live action. So to hear he will be stalking the streets of Starling is exciting. Especially since he and the Dark Archer got beef. Check out the extended preview with the Ras reveal.

P.S. With Ras coming to town it's a perfect time to introduce Nightwing. Just saying...

Batman V Superman Teaser Trailer Leaked!

SO DAMN AWESOME! STARE DOWN!!!!

Lilly and Stoll's 'Ant-Man' Roles Revealed

After months of speculation, Evangeline Lilly (Lost) and Corey Stoll (House Of Cards) finally have confirmed roles in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man.

Lilly will play Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym's daughter Hope Van Dyne. In similar fashion to Paul Rudd's Scott Lang taking over as Ant-Man, Lilly's Van Dyne will most likely take over the mantle of the Wasp during the course of the film.

Stoll on the other hand will indeed be playing the film's main villain Darren Cross. And at some point in the film he will don the persona of Yellowjacket. Thus confirming rumors from a few weeks back.

Kinda wish that this movie focused on Pym in the 60's rather than him handing the mantle of Ant-Man over to Lang. But Stoll, Lilly, Rudd, and Douglas are all great actors that can make this muddling of Ant-man lore interesting.

'Godzilla 2' and King Kong Prequel/Reboot Both Confirmed

Legendary sure had a lot going on at their SDCC panel today. The studio announced both a sequel to Gareth Edward's Godzilla and a new prequel film for another classic movie monster, King Kong, titled Skull Island.

Godzilla 2 will reportedly feature other classic Toho monsters Mothra, Radon, and King Ghidorah. Man, San Fran is fucked.

Meanwhile Skull Island doesn't have anyone attached to direct, but it does have a release date of November 4th 2016. The movie will tell the origins Kong and the rest of the creatures of Skull Island.

DC Announces More Animated Films!

During DC's Batman: Assault on Arkham panel at SDCC, the comics company announced a pair of new animated projects they have been working on. The first is Batman VS. Robin. It will be a loose adaption of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Court of Owls storyline.

The second announcement was the return of animation god Bruce Timm to DC. The guru will be directing an original storyline titled Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Both movies will come out in 2015.

COURT OF OWLS AND BRUCE TIMM! Great day for DC animation. Their last two flicks JL: War and Son Of Batman have been a little weak. Hopefully these new ones will be back up to snuff.

James Gunn To Write and Direct "Guardians Of the Galaxy 2'

Marvel Studios must have really liked what they saw in James Gunn's Guardians Of Galaxy because the writer/director has been hired back to write and helm the sequel. These studio heads seem very confident that this cosmic flick will make money. And with waves of very positive reviews already swarming in and a cast that includes Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper, I see no reason to believe this film will be anything but a success. GOTG comes out August 1st.

My boy Aziz needs a part in the sequel. Chris hook 'em up!

Season 3 Trailer For 'Arrow'

Yesterday at SDCC, CW's Arrow released the first look of it's third season. First looks at Roy as Arsenal, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, and scariest off all a pissed off John Diggle.

Identity seems to be the main theme this of this clip. Can Ollie be both the Arrow and lead a normal life? October cannot come soon enough.

In other Arrow news, Batgirl may be coming to Starling. Well maybe just Barbara Gordon, but a guy can dream can't he? This rumor comes in hot by way of a DC tweet claiming that some episodes this year will have flashbacks specifically focused on Felicity's origin story. Most Arrow viewers should know that Ollie's right hand woman is a graduate of MIT and that is where these flashbacks are to take place. Barbara Gordon also went to MIT. Coincidence? I think not. Because this rumor got really interesting when DC added that one of the episodes will be titled Oracle, Barbara Gordon's codename after she was confined to a wheelchair. So will we see Babs? Maybe its no guarantee. The guys who write Arrow are huge comic fans and love references. The episode title Oracle could just be a nod to how Felicity plays a similar role to Ollie like Babs did to Bats.

Wonder Woman Costume Revealed!

Warner Bros. began their panel in Hall H with a bang by bringing Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder onto the stage. He brought with him a teaser clip and the reveal of Wonder Woman's costume. Here it is.

Now that is Diana of Themyscria! Can't wait to see it in live action! More from SDCC to come!

Is The Rock Playing Shazam?

While being interviewed by Total Film, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson teased his DC movie role. Check out the clip.

Sure sounds like he'll be playing Shazam. Personally I would have rather seen him play John Stewart. Guess we will hear the official announcement at San Diego Comic Con and form an opinion then.

Geoff Johns has been shoving the character of Shazam down the throats of DC fans for the last year and a half or so. First he takes Aquaman's place in Justice League: War and now he gets his own movie before someone like Wonder Woman. What is DC's thought process there? While I will say Johns did a good job reinventing Shazam's origins in the backup pages of the Justice League comic, I still do not wish to see the character on the roster of the live action Justice League. He still is far too similar to Superman and there are many characters that are much more deserving of a place on the team instead of Billy Batson. I'm looking at you Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Flash. Shazam just doesn't deserve his own big screen adaption even if he is being played by a big box office draw like the Rock. I hope that if this movie does exist that the character will still sit out of the first Justice League. Quit fucking with the League's roster Geoff. Except when you added Lex in the comics that was cool.

DC TV Updates For 'Flash', 'Arrow' and 'Gotham'

Hey everybody! Sorry for the hiatus. I just took the last week for a little R+R, but now I'm back and more dedicated than ever. Let's talk some DC TV.

Wentworth Miller Cast as Captain Cold

Last Friday TV Guide tweeted that Prison Break actor Wentworth Miller will portray the ice villain and leader of the Rogues on Flash. The character will be first introduced in episode 4.

Miller is a great cast for Leonard Snart. He fits the new 52 look of the character which is the direction I believe the show should take. Ice Powers > Ice Gun every time. With Cold being added there is only a matter of time before this show brings in the rest of the Rogues. Can't wait.

Arrow and Flash Will Have a Two Hour Crossover!

TV Guide also nabbed another a big DC TV scoop this week from an interview with Flash and Arrow producer Andrew Kreisberg. He revealed that both shows will have a crossover event that will take place across each of the show's 8th episodes. The producer also mentioned that everybody's favorite Arrow character, Felicity Smoak, will be making a stop in Central City in Flash's 4th episode.

These shows exist in the same universe so a crossover was inevitable. Thats not meant to say that I'm not excited for it though. It's going to be cool seeing Ollie team up with super powered Barry. The dynamic between the characters will be much different than Barry's Arrow guest stint considering they are both superheroes now. Bring on the mash up.

By the way the most exciting question about this crossover is who's the bad guy causing this little team up? Could it be the Rogues first assembling? Or maybe Deathstroke breaks free? Or could Gorilla Grodd bringing his own brand of whoop ass to Central City? (I'm still riding on an Ape-high because of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) Well whoever it is must be tough to catch the attention of both our CW heroes.

Geoff Johns Confirms DC TV and Movies Are Not Connected

DC Entertainment Chief Geoff Johns had a recent interview with IGN Movies where he revealed that the DC Movie and TV universes are not connected. Johns said "You'll see a lot of DC universe characters [on The Flash and Arrow]. You won't see Batman or Superman. We're on production on Batman V Superman now. So you'll see characters like The Atom or Firestorm, but no not Batman or Superman right now [on TV]." That makes sense, but Smallville aired when Superman Return was released, so why not?... It's a separate universe than film so that the filmmakers can tell the story that's best for film. While we explore something different in a different corner of the DC universe. We will not be integrating the film and television universes."

We live in a world today where everybody expects every comic related media to be connected. Marvel Studios has revolutionized the genre by weaving a larger tale with their interconnected films. Last year the studio attempted to integrate TV into it's MCU cannon by adding Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. Now that show blows. Like seriously sucks ass. And while I believe that Marvel's Netflix series will fair much better, I think AOS proved that making your TV show connected to your movie universe is not always a good thing.

Yes having a Movie Flash and a TV Flash will not please everyone. But I actually like what Johns said about having the universes separate allow the writers to explore different characters in the TV corner of the DC Universe. I mean let's face it, not every comic character is going to be brought to film. The Flash and Green Arrow might get film adaptions yet characters like Firestorm, The Atom, and Katana probably never will. So having heroes like Flash and GA on TV allows for these more obscure DC characters to make it into the limelight. And if the two heroes are played by different actors and make it into film, then they can deal with their fellow Justice Leaguers. I think it just means more stories being told about our favorite characters. So its not the end of the world that Ben Affleck will not be taking selfies with Colton Hayes anytime soon.

Gotham show runner Bruno Heller Dishes on Batman Prequel

Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) has been talking non-stop about his new show Gotham. Heller told IGN Movies about the potential Joker appearances, Poison Ivy's name change, the inclusion of Hugo Strange, an older Harvey Dent, and Arkham Asylum all in season one.

An older Harvey Dent and Hugo Strange. Great two more villains for this show to ruin. Let's go through which foes have been confirmed for this show. Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler, Poison Ivy, Hugo Strange, Two Face, Joker, Scarecrow and some have even rumored Mr. Freeze will make an appearance. That's 9 of Batman's top baddies and they have only shot the pilot. Are gonna introduce fucking Clayface and Professor Pyg this season too? If the writers did they would probably rename them Swine Bacon and Johnny Mud. (The name Ivy Pepper still makes me fucking puke.)  Seriously though I thought this show was about Jim Gordon and the GCPD. Gordon's past now only really seems like a vehicle for these horrendous villain backstories that no one wants to see. The season is supposed to consist 16 episodes, but I starting to think that is 15 episodes to many. Bury this shit before it starts to tarnish Batman's legacy.

Deborah Ann Woll Cast as Karen Page in 'Daredevil'

Netflix's Daredevil continues to assemble a top notch cast. Today the Marvel Studio's TV show added Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) as Matt Murdoch's girlfriend Karen Page. She will be featured along side Charlie Cox, Vincent D' Onofrio, Rosario Dawson, and Elden Henson for the 13 episode series.

Great news!!! Deborah Ann Woll kicks ass. A perfect actress to play Daredevil's muse. She will kill it. True Blood may absolutely suck now, but she is the only reason to still tune in. I imagine even if somehow Daredevil blows she will make it a must watch.

Like I said a must watch. Daredevil will starting shooting soon.

New Trailer for Marvel and Disney "Big Hero 6"

Disney has released a trailer for it's first Marvel based animated movie Big Hero 6. Looks like a lot of fun. Could this be the worthy successor to The Incredibles? We will have to wait and see.

I'm hoping the fat cat plays a large role.

New 'Gotham' Trailer and Poster

As SDCC approaches Fox has been revving up their media campaign for their Batman prequel series Gotham. As I have stated before I want this show to succeed, but everything that has come out from the pilot episode so far has made me skittish. Check out the new trailer and poster and tell us what you think.

Forget it! I just can't. 2 minutes from an episode and I have seen enough. Fuck this show. "Well aren't you a cool glass of milk" and "If I want riddles I'll read the funny pages." Are you shitting me? Where is the Bruno Heller who wrote Rome? Not the hack who is writing lines that make Arnold's Mr. Freeze quotes seem Shakespearean.

Now for the poster. Maybe this will help my better my expectations.

Nope! Ivy Pepper and Fish Mooney. Who is coming up with these names? Was Pamela Isley too real of a name for them? And on second thought why is she even on the show? How many villains are in this damn pilot episode?

Fox will be airing the pilot for Gotham at SDCC in two weeks and the show will airing episodes on Mondays starting in September. I can't wait...

'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' Thoughts/Review!

Last night the Informers got together to watch Matt Reeve's Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Here's my quick thoughts and review. Mild-spoliers ahead!

What We Liked:

  • Andy Serkis' performance as Caesar
  • Toby Kebbell's Koba
  • HUMAN WORK!
  • Ceasar's son blue eyes
  • MAURICE!
  • Jason Clarke's Malcolm leading the human element
  • Great message told through sci-fi
  • Incredible special effects
  • Post Simian Flu San Fran
  • Realistic Ape movement
  • Compelling story and character motivations
  • Apes on Horses!
  • Apes speech and sign language
  • The original Planet of the Apes-esque score
  • Matt Reeves' direction
  • Tension created between Humans and Apes
  • Parallels between both Ape and Human leaders
  • The final showdown
  • The end and where it leaves the Apes
  • The chilling opening credits
What We Didn't Like

  • The underutilization of Gary Oldman's Dreyfus
  • Other humans weren't as compelling as Jason Clarke's Malcolm

Wow! Just wow. We are huge sci-fi fans here at the Informers and it's great to see another amazing entry in the Planet of the Apes franchise. Andy Serkis and Toby Kebbell's performances are both incredible. Anyone who tells you that motion capture is not real acting is full of shit. These two actors make you feel for their characters and every time they speak you are on the edge of your seat. As for directing, Rupert Wyatt did a great job with Rise, but Matt Reeves tops him with this masterpiece. Reeves is able to create tension and story with characters that can only speak so limitedly. When the apes do speak, they volumes and that's a credit to the way Reeves and the writers set up the story. Jason Clarke was also a great addition as the human Malcolm. His arc was a interesting parallel to Caesar's. Overall I give this movie a 9.5 out of 10. Go see it! This is a summer must! After seeing this I cannot wait to see Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four. As well as see who Andy Serkis will play in Star War Ep. VII.

Is 'The Amazing Spiderman' Franchise in Trouble?

Amid recent reports that The Amazing Spiderman 3 has been pushed back to 2017, one of the screenwriters for ASM 2 Robert Orci has told IGN Movies that he has exited the sequel.  "I don't know what their plans are for that franchise," Orci said. Then when asked if he would return for future installments he said "I don't ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I've read probably as much as anyone else. There's a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom -- there's an idea of Spider-Man's going to be one of these characters that's part of our business. He's such a popular character. Spider-Man's not going to go away any time soon. When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined." Orci's next project will be directing the JJ-less Star Trek 3.

Source: IGN Movies
             ComicBookMovie

First off I would to say that I'm not the biggest fan of Robert Orci or his former writing partner Alex Kurtzman. They have many shitty projects clogging up their combined resume including Cowboys vs Aliens and Transformers: Revenge Of the Fallen. Overall they are mediocre writers at best. They are the geniuses behind using super blood as a plot device in both Star Trek: Into Darkness and ASM 2. Fuck, I wouldn't be surprised if they are the ones who proposed the idea that the aliens' motivation in Cowboys vs Aliens was that they wanted our gold. Just terrible. So somehow these two were believed to be featured heavily in the future of the ASM franchise. Kurtzman was to direct Venom and both of them were expected to pen the upcoming sequel. That was all before the lukewarm critical and box office reception of ASM 2. So now Orci is off to ruin Star Trek and Kurtzman is god knows where. So where does that leave Spiderman and his spinoffs?

What is really interesting is Orci's comments about not knowing the schedule of future Spidey films. A few months ago it seemed very set in stone that Amazing Spiderman 3 would be released in 2016. But in a post ASM 2 world, that no longer seems so certain. Same thing with Venom and the Sinister Six. Sony's plans for the villainous spinoffs seemed like a guarantee, but now Orci's comments make it sound like the studio is weary to make those flicks.

So let's face the facts, Amazing Spiderman 2 has (at least temporarily) crippled the once promising franchise. As a staff we gave the film an 7.5, but others were not as kind. So what was the problem with the movie? Andrew Garfield sure of hell isn't, he is a great Spiderman. Emma Stone was once again top notch. The problem is Marc Webb and the writing team. Webb has swung and missed on both of the mains villains and focus of the first two movies.

I have never particularly found the Lizard to be an exciting villain and as for Electro, Jamie Foxx's performance of wasn't the problem, the way he was misused was. The character was extremely powerful (superpowers-wise), it just did not feel like the main villain of the film though. He was only around so when the time was right he could break Harry Osborn in Oscorp and give us a Goblin origin. Still somehow in forgien markets this film had the subtitle Rise Of Electro. Even though Electro is missing through most of the film and done away with rather quickly in the finale so that the more compelling villain Green Goblin can fuck with Peter. Webb has stated that Electro is his favorite Spiderman villain, yet the character felt like he didn't belong in this movie.

The other main problem I have with Webb is his focus on Peter's parents. The storyline had an  obvious ending and took away valuable screen time from other scenes that could have improved the film. It just further made the film jumbled by making it spin more story lines. Also nobody has ever given a shit about Peter's parents. Like seriously I'm surprised this franchise even attempted to address them.

So yes maybe The Amazing Spiderman franchise is delaying it's 3rd film and subsequent spinoffs. But truthfully I find this to be a good thing. This franchise needs to find a new direction. Orci leaving is a good start, but I really believe Sony needs to replace Webb as well. He is great with the romantic scenes, but I'm sorry to tell him that Spiderman isn't all about romance. He picks and misuses the villains of his films and I do not want to see him ruin characters like Venom or Kraven anytime soon. Get a new writing team and tell Webb to hit the curb. Hopefully then Andrew Garfield can get a movie that his fantastic portrayal of Spiderman deserves.

Rumor: Is Doomsday in 'Batman V Superman'?

Could the creature that "killed" Superman have a part to play in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice? Bleeding Cool seems to think so. A source from the movie has supposedly shown the site character designs of Doomsday. The site then points out that just because there are character designs does not necessarily mean that character will make the final cut of the film. But they do make for one hot rumor though.

Source: Bleeding Cool

We have all been lied to so much about this movie I don't know what to believe anymore. I know I keep saying that Lex Luthor ain't the only villain in this thing, but could it really be Doomsday who fights Superman alongside him? Maybe. Actually fuck it I'll say yes. Doomsday is powerful enough to back up Lex. Perhaps Luthor digs up Doomsday or some shit then he proceeds to throw down with Batman, Supes, and Wonder Woman. I think I just cracked this movie wide open. Who do you think is in this movie? Sound off in the comments.

I lied. After everything that has occur I can't believe any rumor that comes out about this movie. Unless Zack Snyder gets up in Hall H at SDCC at the end of the month and explicitly states that Doomsday is in this movie, I'm not buying shit.

Season 3 Of 'Arrow's First Synopsis

CW has released a brief synopsis for the early episodes of Arrow's Season 3.

"In the aftermath of this victory, Season Three opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen – not as long as the city needs The Arrow."

Source: ComicBookMovie

I'm guessing Peter Stromae's newer version of Count Vertigo will be the early season villain who reappears. All that before my main man the Dark Archer brings his new sidekick out to play later on. Also looks like Detective Lance survives whatever the hell happened to him in the final moments of the finale and now is the Police Captain. Can't keep fucking the guy over forever, it's about time something positive happened for Quentin. And finally Olicity is happening! But don't get your hopes up. Once Brandon Routh swoops in as Ray Palmer, Ollie will be shit out of luck. Felcity has a thing for them DC scientists. Who cares anyway? We all know who Starling City's real power couple is.

No wonder Roy got so mad in Season 2. He got got cuckholded by the master. Arrow begins shooting now and will return in October.

Stephen Amell's Cousin Robbie Amell Joins 'The Flash'

Many new additions have been being added to Arrow for season 3 and now we have an addition to the spinoff. Robbie Amell will be joining the cast as Ronnie Raymound, also known as Firestorm, and will have an important in how Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin) becomes the Flash.

Keeping the family name in the business, Robbie Amell, cousin to Steve Amell who plays Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow in the Arrow hit show, will be a great addition to the cast. He had a short lived run on a previous show, The Tomorrow People, but I believe this role has his name all over it. He definitely has the heart to act in this role and he was born to play Firestorm

For the people who don't know, Firestorm was formed by the fusion of two people, a young high school student Ronnie Raymond and an award winning physicist Martin Stein, during a nuclear lab accident where Ronnie took over the controls with Martin being a small voice of reason in his head. They do change Ronnie's back story in the TV series, having him as a maintenence worker at STAR Labs with Caitlin Snow (played by Danielle Panabaker) as his fiance, but it shouldn't change much of the original story of Firestorm.

Tuesday Title Pull List: (7/8/14)

Some interesting new title launches this week. Miguel O'Hara gets his own series. The Suicide Squad gets a roster update that includes Deathstroke and Black Manta. And lastly the first issue of Grayson will be hitting shelves. I despise the idea of Dick Grayson becoming a secret agent. That being said I still will be picking up Agents of D.I.C.K. (as I like to call it) this week to support the character.

1. New Suicide Squad #1 (DC)

2. Spiderman 2099 #1 (Marvel)

3. Amazing X-Men #9 (Marvel)

4. Detective Comics #33 (DC)

5. Grayson #1 (DC)

Christian's Extra Pick: Deadpool #31 (Marvel)

Way too excited for this new Suicide Squad roster. Can't wait to read this new team dynamic. Deathstroke doesn't seem too keen on being a team player. Thanks for reading and make sure to follow us on  Twitter @Caped_Informers or me @cstrand73 to stay up to date on all comic news.

New 'Gone Girl' Trailer

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice may still be 22 months away (not like I'm counting or anything), but until then you can get your Batfleck fix by checking checking out David Fincher's Gone Girl based on the novel with the same name. Did Ben Affleck kill his wife? You'll have to head to a theater October 3rd to find out.

I need Ben to keep a little grizzle for Batman. Seasoned bearded Bat would kill it.

Arrow Casts Brandon Routh as The Atom for Season 3!

TV Line is reporting that Superman Returns actor, Brandon Routh will be joining the ever growing cast of Arrow for the new and upcoming season. According to the article, Routh will be playing Ray Palmer or better known by his superhero identity, The Atom. Not exactly the Man of Steel but still a pretty awesome character. For those who may not know, The Atom's abilities include enlarging and shrinking objects that surround him (including himself). Also, he can manipulate his weight to his advantage. Pretty badass stuff. Anyways, the article also says that Routh's character will be the new CEO of Queen Consolidated, and has complete control of the Applied Sciences division. Click the link to find out more!

First I would like to say I approve the choice of Brandon Routh. Although Superman Returns wasn't the greatest of films, I enjoyed his portrayal of the Man of Steel. I think having a guy who has played one of the biggest super hero's of all time on the big screen is really a positive add on for this new season. Second, it will be interesting to see how Ray's storyline will come intertwined with Oliver's. With Ray taking over the company, and keeping the Applied Sciences division "a mystery" to quote the article, it raises the question will these two get along? Also, when you factor in the fact that it is a possible love interest for Felicity, we could see some tempers flair based off of how Ollie treated Barry.  Lastly lets touch on The Atom as a hero. We have all seen him in other DC shows and stories such as Justice League and Teen Titans, but I'm very interested to see Atom join the Arrowverse. It will be fun to see how the special effects team on Arrow can bring his powers to this show, and I'm am very much looking forward to it. One last question, by adding another vigilante into the mix, does this mean both Arrow and Atom will be seen in Flash's universe as well? I guess we will keep an eye out for that too. What do you guys think? Are you a fan of Routh's new role as The Atom, or is this just a pointless addition to season 3? Stay tuned for more Arrow announcements as the we approach season 3!

P.S-With all these new characters being added to season 3, is it still a long shot to ask for some Dick in Starling City?

'Gotham' Adds Kyle Massey For Guest Role

In a move that should surprise no one, TV Line reports that Fox's Gotham has cast the much sought after thespian Kyle Massey (That's So Raven) in a guest role for it's inaugural season. Massey will play a neglected and abused street kid named Macky. Could he be a new playmate for Selina Kyle or Fish Mooney? Or could Gordon nab him while pulling a B&E? We will find out when Gotham airs in the Fall.

Hopefully Cory and the Boys can make an appearance as well. Gotham could use some love.

DC Comics Updates: New Creative Teams

All great runs have to end I guess. DC took this phrase to a new level when recently announcing new creative teams for it's Wonder Woman and Green Arrow titles, both which having some of the best creative runs that the characters have ever seen. On a more positive note DC is also adding a new Deathstroke series to it's lineup.

Brain Azzarello and Cliff Chang have taken us on one hell of a ride with Diana since the start of the new 52. While tweaking the Princess of Themyscrica's origin, the creative team was also able to inject new life into the title. They utilized the book's supporting characters to their fullest potentials culminating in Wonder Woman becoming the god of war. She even has a great new enemy in the form of the First Born. This book just oozed excellence from the start of the first issue. Azz and Cliff's game changing run will end with issue #35 in October.

The new creative team will be the husband and wife duo of David and Meredith Finch. David will provide his Forever Evil-style penciling, while Meredith will be taking over the writing duties. It's great to see a female writer take over the Wonder Woman title, but I have never anything from Meredith before. Let's hope she is up for the challenge of writing for one of DC's Holy Trinity. The couple's run will begin with issue #36 in November.

At the beginning of last year the Green Arrow title was in shambles. DC turned to Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino to revive it. The duo did more than just make this title viable. They turned it into a must buy every month. I mean there was a reason they won the Capey for best comic for last year. Lemire expanded Green Arrow's universe while putting Oliver in some absolutely crazy situations. All while Sorrentino provided some of the most beautiful art and splash pages you have ever seen. The Outsiders War is already a classic, in fact all of their 17 issues together are.

The new creative team comes straight from the writing staff of CW's Arrow. Andrew Kreisberg and Ben Sokolowski will be taking over for Lemire starting with issue #36. The two writers look to inject a little of CW's Arrow into the series while also bringing back some of Ollie's old school leftist politics. Looking forward to see what the boys have in store of the Emerald Archer.

It's about damn time! Deathstroke will again be getting his own series written and drawn by Tony S. Daniel. The character's popularity is at an all time high due to his recent portrayal by Manu Bennett on CW's Arrow making it a perfect time for DC to try to attempt to hook some of their TV viewers into comics. The character is will also be featured as a member of Task Force X in the reboot of The Suicide Squad.

Daniels is a great artist, but his writing can be spotty. But just take one look at this amazing cover and no matter how ridiculous the storyline is, you will be forced to buy this first issue.

Did Kevin Smith Write A Fake 'Batman V Superman' Script?

Could everything we have heard rumored about Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice be from a fake script written by Kevin Smith (Clerks)? That's what Movieweb.com is claiming. The site received an email from a source that claims that the leaked script that every entertainment website has been basing their rumors off of is a diversion tactic by WB.

Here's exactly what the email from Movieweb.com said:

"This isn't a scoop regarding the plot or the details of the Batman v Superman movie or am I writing you in order to spoil or disappoint the general public.

My insider info regards a who has been the source of the vast majority of leaked information as regards to the movie and more importantly why.

Up until last year I worked for as a PA for a Warner Bros. exec until I was promoted to marketing. It was here I and several others where approached to work, directly and indirectly, for Susanne Knoll and sometimes Deborah Snyder.

It was here that I became a part of a particular strategy that Warner Bros has been using to great effect.

Early this year a Screenplay for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which was commissioned by Warner Bros was leaked to several gossip sites. It was a scanned PDF of the entire screenplay baring a official Warner Bros watermark.

This script has been the source of almost every leaked detail about the movie for the last six months. It has been posted on sites then quickly removed due to cease and desist letters from Warner Bros.

While the screenplay is legit and the watermark is legit and it is was commissioned by Charles Roven himself...

But it is written by neither David S. Goyer or Chris Terrio.

It was written by Kevin Smith.

Late last year both Charles Roven and Zack Snyder approached Kevin Smith with a early treatment for the film and It was Kevin Smith who came up with the idea to write an entire screenplay based on it but with several huge red herrings and changes which do not appear in the final film. These include plot points and characters etc etc. and 'leak' it online.

This script was distributed by myself and others to gossip sites and movie sites like aintitcool, latino review, movie pilot, etc etc

My job was to pose as a worker at Warner Bros who was leaking the screenplay.

There were several others involved who posed as recently fired members of the production, interns and special effects artists and we all spread the misleading info around the web.

None of this was done maliciously and was a strategy to misdirect much of sites that intended to spoil the film."

So what should we believe? Are any of those rumored villains in the film? Has WB successfully trolled the media? I think it may be a legitimate possibility. A very interesting strategy to say the least. But how reliable is this email? Latino Reviews's El Mayimbe tweeted that "That story on that bum juice site is fake in itself."  Hehe bum juice. But really what is going on?

Kevin Smith is a knowledgeable comic source and if this rumor is true he definitely has the capability of writing an extremely fan serviced script. Badass Digest says they also have a copy of this leaked script and they are also not sure if it is the real deal or not.

"Like I said, I'm on the fence about the legitimacy of this script. I trust El Mayimbe's network and the other information he has beyond this script, but something about the actual script itself - whether it be the errors or the cascading fan-service (Kord Industries, Jason Todd, a Shuster Street in Metropolis, Kyle Rayner, Carrie Kelley, Thanagar, mentioning Hob's Bay, the President is named Diane Nelson, who just happens to be the president of DC Entertainment) or the fact that tonally it is nothing like Man of Steel  (Themyscira has an embassy in Metropolis!) forces me to remain humbly skeptical. If this is the script then Warner Bros has learned some lessons from their last couple of movies, although I worry the sheer weight of fan service in this script could crush the film."

Many of the fan service claims seem to be extremely far-fetched making it sound more and more like this "leaked" script is full of shit. I do not see Kyle Rayner or anyone from Thanagar coming anywhere near this film. Also an embassy for Themyscira in Metropolis only two years after the events of Man of Steel is almost a complete impossibility. Lastly naming the President after the president of DC Entertainment Diane Nelson is almost as big of a douchebag move as when Robert Singer named Bobby Singer after himself on Supernatural.

So all in all, I am now utterly confused. I don't know what to believe anymore. I know the photos of Batfleck and Superman are both legit, but is every other rumor from this film fabricated from this "script"? Could Metallo or The Joker or Brainiac really be in this movie and we have been victims of WB's genius plan? If so kudos to WB. They want to keep most of the information about this film a secret as long as possible and they seem to be succeeding. But this strategy also leaves fans with their dicks in their hands not knowing if they have be "smeckledorfed" or not.

Here are the 5 things I know about this film:

1. Zack Snyder is directing.
2. Chris Terrio is writing a screenplay from David Goyer's story
3. Ben and Henry's suits both look awesome
4. Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor
5. Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Aquaman are in it

Everything else I am going to declare as bullshit. So Victor Zsasz and Morgan Edge are not in this movie. Unless they actually are, I don't know! Damn you Kevin Smith! Guess everyone will have to be patient and wait to actually see the movie to know the truth. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is shooting now and will be in theaters May 2016.

First Pic Of Superman Plus 3 Potential Villains For 'Batman V Superman'

USA Today has released the first image of Henry Cavill's Superman from Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Just in time for the 4th of July weekend! 'Merica!

Source: USA Today

He looks glorious in that slightly brighter suit. Also gotta love his new haircut. But the biggest takeaway from this picture is the background. Looks a hell of a lot like Gotham to me. Behind him you can see smoke stacks mixed with dark landscapes that all just reek of sadness. Must be in Gotham. Hope to see a big chunk of the movie set in that shithole of a city.

Latino Review's El Mayimbe has an exclusive about 3 villains, who will supposedly appear in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. There could be some potential spoilers so you will have to hit the read more to check it out!

Throwback Thursday: (7/3/14)

Pokemon

I had to make this one pretty quickly since I'm working all day today, so I decided to go with one that I know like the back of my hand. I have grown up with the Pokemon series, playing every single generation out there and even the remakes as well. Although some people say that these games are repetitive, these games have been the most addicting games I have ever played and they are still one of my all time game choices. With the release of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire coming out this fall, let's take a look into the past games and generations

The main games in this series have always been for the Nintendo handheld systems, from the GameBoy Color to the Nintendo 3DS, but there have been numerous spinoffs to the original games, such as Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Ranger. As well as these spinoffs, tech-savvy gamers have also made ROM Hacks for these games as well, where they will either change up the story a little bit, like in Pokemon: Dark Diamond, or they will make a completely new game based off of the series, like my all time favorite Pokemon: Zeta and Omicron.

The gist of the games go like this, you pick a starter from the region of the game you're playing from a Professor. You train and capture your Pokemon and try to beat the 8 gym leaders in the region to have a chance to go through Victory Road to reach the Elite 4 and finally the Pokemon Champion. In each region, there is a gang of evil doers that try to either capture the Legendary Pokemon in the region or just to cause a nuisance. Throughout the game, you will fight your rival multiple times and it can become a pain but it moves the game along.

Gen 1: Red, Blue, and Yellow

This generation has the games that rocketed this franchise to one of the most well liked games of all time. These games were for the GameBoy Color and were all essentially the same, with the exception of Pokemon: Yellow having Pikachu as the starter and adding more Team Rocket fights. In Gen 1, the starters were Charmander the Fire Lizard, Squirtle the Tiny Turtle, and Bulbasaur the Seed Pokemon and in Yellow, a Pikachu the Electric Mouse was the players and your rival took an Eevee. The region of Kanto is the one that we all know well, with Pallet Town, Cerulean City and so on and is the home to the original 151 Pokemon. When remake for the GameBoy Advance with Fire Red and Leaf Green, they added Gen 2 and Gen 3 to the Pokedex to obtain, and added the Sevii Islands for some extra gameplay towards the end of the storyline.

If you're like me, these are the first Pokemon games that you ever played. The low-level graphics were all that we could ask for in the earlier time of gaming and when it came to gameplay, this game had it all. Looking at the picture below, you can see how much the game improved in just a few years and how the Pokemon franchise knows how to hit our nostalgia.

Gen 2: Gold, Silver, and Crystal

These games, just like the first gen, were made for the Gameboy Color. However, these games utilized the color aspect a lot better than the first gen, with having everything in color. The story for these 3 games takes place in the Johto Region, to the left of the original Kanto Region, and after the Elite 4 is beaten, you can actually travel to Kanto and fight those Gyms. These games are all similar to each other, except Crystal added an extra mini quest to capture the Legendary Pokemon, Suicune, and was the first game of the series to implement gender picking when it came to the avatar. These games also added 100 more Pokemon, including the starters, Cyndaquil for Fire, Chikorita for Grass, and Totodile for water and also 2 new types, Dark and Steel. These games were my favorite of all of them, since they added 2 regions to the game, and they also had my favorite Pokemon of all time in there, Espeon the psychic version of Eevee. This is also the first game for the infamous Youngster Joey. This gen also added the first use of time, using day and night to be able to catch different Pokemon.

The remakes of this game came a few years ago for the Nintendo DS called Heart Gold and Soul Silver. These remakes added my favorite feature of letting your Pokemon follow your avatar during gameplay. Unfortunately, this feature didn't move to the 3DS console, which is why this remake is still one of the better games out there. Like the other remakes, this one added a side feature of the Safari Zone, which was unavailable in the original gen 2 games, and Pokemon all the way up to the 4th Gen.

Gen 3: Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald

These games were the first ones to come out for the Gameboy Advance and added even more Pokemon to the mix, adding 135 new ones, making the grand total 386. In the region of Hoenn, you can pick from these three Pokemon, Torchic for Fire, Mudkip for Water, and Treeko for Grass. The main thing that this gen added was double battles, where the player can use 2 of their Pokemon at the same time in a battle to add to the strategies in the game. They also began to add natures and abilities into this game to have added effects on stats and other random tid-bits. The remakes for this game will be talked about at the end of the article, just because most of the new added features are explained in future generations.

Another great addition in this game was the secret bases. They had nothing to do with the story and you can easily complete the game without doing them, but they were a fun little addition added. They were areas scattered around Hoenn where the player could decorate their base with various furniture to get their own unique look.

Gen 4: Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum

This generation was the first one to be put on the Nintendo DS console and like the generations before, added a whole new set of Pokemon to choose from. This generation added 107 new Pokemon to the ever expanding Pokedex, making a total so far of 493 playable little creatures. Located in the Sinnoh Region, the starters here were Chimchar for Fire, Turtwig for Grass, and Piplup for Water. This is the first generation to have all 3 starters with dual typings for their final evolutions, which helps with matching against opponents.

This gen added onto the time feature from gen 2 and added more time periods. Instead of just Day and Night, they had Morning, Day, Afternoon, Evening, and Night. Each of these periods had different Pokemon available in them and you have to plan accordingly to catch them all. This gen also added an online feature where you can battle and trade with people wirelessly all over the world. This new aspect brought the battling masters out of the woodwork and were able to test their skills with other great battlers around the globe

Gen 5: Black, White, Black 2, and White 2

Out of all of the generations in the series, this is probably my least favorite. I don't have a specific reason why, this gen just didn't cut it for me. And the addition of Black 2 and White 2 made no sense to me, just another reason for them to get money I guess. Bitching aside, this gen added a whopping 156 new Pokemon, including the starters Oshawatt for Water, Tepig for Fire, and Snivy for Grass. In the Unova Region, the graphics and battle style changed dramatically since the last gen, and definitely for the better. The fighting now makes it look more like the Pokemon are in combat, like flinching when they get hit and making movements when attacking.

A few new things were added to this gen, like instead of just time, now the season change, changing the Pokemon available. One of the better things added was the introduction of Triple Battles (3vs3) and Rotational Battles (3vs3 rotating). These battle are always fun to do and add more fun game play. Another thing added was the rustling patches in grass. These patches can either have an item in them or a rare Pokemon, so it is important not to miss any of them. Comparing between the first and second version of this game, not much has changed except where you start and a few added extras like the cinemas, but overall I would give this gen a 6/10.

Gen 6: Pokemon X and Y

As the newest release, these games had the most hype of them all and with good reason; they were the first to be put on the Nintendo 3DS. The graphics on this console alone opened up a whole new world for the players and the addition of the 3D fighting made the game even more fun than before. Not only that, but another whole bunch of Pokemon were added to this game as well, 70 new Pokemon as well as the new Fairy Type making the final grand total of 718 (719 if you count Diance which is currently unavailable). This new type made it so Dragon Pokemon weren't unbeatable juggernauts like they were in the previous games by being super effective against and couldn't be damaged by them.

In the Kalos region, the player starts off with one of 3 Pokemon; Froakie for Water, Chespin for Grass, and Fennekin for Fire. Not only these starters, but the players can also a little later on obtain a starter Pokemon from the Kanto region as well. From here, the player was also able to customize their look from various shops around the region, making no two characters look alike.

Many new features were added to this game. To start it off, they added in Horde Battles, which was a random battle event in the wild against 5 somewhat weaker Pokemon. These Horde Battles could also be activated by the move 'Sweet Scent' and definitely helped with the training. The online play for this game was improved as well. Not only did it have the GTS, or the Global Trading System, but it also included Wonder Trading. This is where the player picks one of their Pokemon to be traded with a random Pokemon from a random trainer, which became a huge hit. Lastly, the addition of 'Mega Stones' changed the game for ever. This is when certain Pokemon holding their specific mega stone 'Mega Evolve' into a much stronger Pokemon for the fight. Although it seems to take a page from Digimon's playbook, it was still a great addition to the series and it made some Pokemon that weren't used as much, like Mawile and Banette, useful again.

Future Release: Pokemon ORAS

Last but not least, the soon to be additions to our favorite series, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. This game is going to be a remake of the Gen 3 games, Ruby and Sapphire, and should be adding a whole new element to that generation. From what I can tell from the E3 trailer, the Mega Stones are going to have their own part of the story added on to the original story line. There is also going to be a different type of Mega Evolution so far called 'Primal State'. Only so far being for the Legendaries, Kyorge and Groudon, this new evolution should make them more powerful than ever before.

That is it for Throwback Thursday, if you have any suggestions of a game series you want me to cover, either tweet at us or comment on this thread and have a great 4th of July weekend.
