Deadline has reported that Ciara Renee (Law and Order: SVU) has been tapped to play Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl on the upcoming Flash/Arrow spinoff series that is set to debut in late 2015/early 2016. The site was also kind enough to release this short but sweet official description about the character: "Kendra Saunders is a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker…Hawkgirl."
Ciara Renee joins a very strange array of characters from both Arrow + TheFlash. Which so far includes The ATOM, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold, Heatwave, One half of Firestorm, and Sara Lance's corpse. Plus three DC characters, who will be new to TV, are expected to be introduced as well. I sure as hell have no idea what's going on, but you know what, I dig. A whole crazy ass list of DC characters being produced by the people who make Arrow/Flash. Sign me up. Especially since many of these awesome characters will never get the silver screen treatment. It's gonna be cool to see a separate team of lesser known heroes assemble on TV. Now just cast a Booster Gold and let's get this train rolling.
P.S. Why hasn't Robbie Amell aka Ronnie Raymond joined this cast yet? The other half of Firestorm, Victor Garber aka Martin Stein, has. I can only jump to one logical conclusion, Ronnie has left Firestorm. First Zayn leaves 1D, now Ronnie leaves Firestorm. #WorstWeekEver, I can't take much more heartbreak. #ComeBackRonnie UPDATE: Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who) has also been added to the Flash/Arrow spinoff as time-traveler Rip Hunter. His character description is "a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit." This addition makes sense because of the recent discovery of time-travel on The Flash. Also since Rip is Booster Gold's son, I think it should be about time we bring him into this little party as well. So what do you guys think of Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter? Sound off in the comments. Fan Cast: Katheryn Winnick as Black Canary (Dinah Drake)
“Wait a second… Arrow already has Caity Lotz as the
Canary, and the lovely Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance…”
That’s absolutely correct! And the Informers have been very
vocal about being pro-Arrow. However, this fan casting is more about the
upcoming Justice League movie under Zack Snyder. While it would be
awesome to see Stephen Amell and other mains from Arrow be tied into Justice
League, sometimes the cake is a lie.
Katheryn Winnick’s biggest role to date has been for History
Channel’s Vikings, which wrapped up its sophomore season in May. Winnick
plays the Viking legendary shieldmaiden, Lagertha, who pummels her way through
Norse and Saxon warriors alike. Possessing unparalleled ferocity from fight
scene-to-fight scene, Winnick also brings out a nurturing side when fostering
her on-screen son, Bjorn, which distinctly reminds me of Young Justice’s
version of a Black Canary who carefully mentors the young and inexperienced
Team. Aside from Vikings, Winnick has found no shortage of smaller
cinema roles and TV guest appearances kicking ass and looking fantastic.
A big contributor to her ass-kickery is the fact that Winnick is a third-degree
black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a second-degree black belt in Karate, and a licensed
bodyguard. Katheryn actually began her career as a martial arts instructor for
actors and had three studios open in New York and Toronto by the time she was

Don't know who that is? Watch Arrow every Wednesday, she is the lovely Black Canary. Now before Arrow, I had no idea who she was, or what other projects she as been in, but does it really matter? All that matters is every Wednesday she runs around in a little tight black leather suit and looks hot. Is she the best actress in the world? I don't think so, but she is still the perfect pick for today's women crush. Also it happens to fall on Arrow day! So Caity keep doing what you're doing, keep kicking ass every week on Arrow, and keep looking hot as hell in that suit.

Character Crush: Artemis (After the Time Jump) Young Justice was taken from us too early. The late-great show added many different dimensions to the DC Universe during it's two seasons. Though no addition was as beautiful and passionate as Artemis. She became Green Arrow's sidekick and the main archer of "The Team". She was an aggressive archer who is never afraid to voice her opinions, who was always out to prove herself to her fellow super friends because her parentage gave her a little bit of a bad streak. She was the daughter of Huntress and Sportmaster. She should have turned out like her sister Jade and became a criminal, but Artemis was better than that. She fought her way towards the path of heroism and away from her father's kill or be killed culture. After the time jump, Wally West and Artemis were a full out couple. So Kid Flash and Artemis, I was wondering if I could unicorn in sometime? I mean I picked you both as my crushes this week, I deserve some kind of reward, right?
