A Fantastic Four Trailer Is Finally Here!

After months of speculation, relentless online fanboy attacks, and rumored production troubles, director Josh Trank has finally released the first trailer to his reboot of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's Fantastic Four comic. Gotta say this looks pretty cool to me. Looks like a deeper sci-fi take on Marvel's first family. Hopefully this trailer will ease some fanboys minds. Check  it out for yourself!

Reg E. Cathey Joins Fantastic Four Reboot

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that actor Reg E. Cathey (House of Cards) has joined the cast of Josh Trank's Fantastic Four. He will be playing the role of Sue and Johnny Storm's father Dr. Storm. Cathey has worked with both the actors playing his children, Michael B. Jordan (The Wire) and Kate Mara (House of Cards), previously on various TV projects. So playing their father should be a simple transition for the character actor. It's great to see Frank Underwood's main man Freddy getting some love. Maybe Cathey will channel his Freddy into Dr. Storm and BBQ up some ribs for Reed and the gang.

'Fantastic Four' Nabs Tim Blake Nelson

The Hollywood Reporter has just released an exclusive scoop that Tim Blake Nelson (O'Brother Where Art Thou) is in final talks to join Josh Trank's Fantastic Four. Nelson will reportedly play the role of Harvey Elder in the superhero reboot. Elder is better known as the villain Mole Man in the comics, but Nelson will just being playing Elder as a scientist. This is great news. A solid veteran actor joins up with the young guns. I hope Nelson will be set up to play the villain in a future installment. Much like how he was set up to play The Leader in a future Hulk film. That never came to pass, but maybe the Mole Man will. Fantastic Four is shooting soon and due out in June 2015.

Fantastic Four Finds its Doctor Doom!

Variety has reported that director Josh Trank has chosen actor Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) to play Marvel's First Family's archnemsis Doctor Doom. Unknown actor playing a major comic villain, shit I'm on board. The film is set to shoot in the spring with a June 2015 release date.

Fantastic Four 2 and Wolverine 3 Get Release Dates!

Fox Studios has revealed future release dates for their Marvel properties. IGN and others report that Marvel's First Family will has a confirmed 2017 sequel date, a bold move considering the frosty reception the recent casting decisions for the 2015 movie have received. Fox must have a lot of confidence in Josh Trank/ Simon Kinberg's vision. The report went on to say that a third Wolverine solo outing, to be directed by James Mangold (The Wolverine), will also be in theaters in 2017. This comes at no surprise considering the success of 2013's The Wolverine and the character's overall popularity. Hugh Jackman can thank us for his Capey win anytime. Finally, the studio has also reserved a release date in 2018 for a untitled Marvel project. The Hollywood Reporter is speculating that film will be a Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover. That is something I want to see. I mean we live in the age of superhero film universe building, so I kinda need to see The Thing share a cigar and a drink with Wolvie. Anyway the exact release dates are posted below.

  • Fantastic Four 2: July 14, 2017
  • Wolverine 3: March 3, 2017
  • Untitled Marvel Project: July 13, 2018
