Chiwetel Ejiofor Will Play Doctor Strange Villain Baron Mordo

Doctor Strange has found it's bad guy in the form of Chiwetel Ejiofor. The 12 Years A Slave actor will be suiting up to play evil sorcerer Baron Mordo. He joins an already impressive cast that includes Tilda Swinton (Snowpiecer) and of course Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) as the titular hero.

Ejiofor is a great actor and has played villainous parts before. Check out either Four Brothers or Serenity. He will be a great baddie.
I hope we see Baron's past that includes him attempting to kill Dr. Strange's mentor, the Ancient One. And if we do see that maybe Baron can help set up his bestie Dormammuu as the villain of the sequel. That would be badass. Doctor Strange hits theaters in November of 2016.

Thanks for reading! Are you a Chiwetel Ejiofor fan? Are you excited for more magic in the MCU? Let us know in the comments and make sure to check out all our articles and reviews about comic book movies.

Benedict Cumberbatch is Doctor Strange

After months of speculation, Marvel Studios has finally found it's Doctor Strange. Deadline reports that Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) has signed on to play the Sorcerer Supreme in his upcoming solo adventure. About a month ago it seemed as though Joaquin Phoenix (Her) was a shoe-in to play Strange, but Marvel was having trouble signing him up for multiple film appearances. Cumberbatch is a prolific actor in his own right and will have no problem owning this role. Scott Derrickson (Sinister) will direct a script written by Jon Spaihts (PrometheusDoctor Strange will hit theaters in 2016.

Barrel Rider!!
Cumberbatch is one of my favorite actors active today. Marvel has made the right move in getting him to lead a risky venture for them. I just wish DC/WB had made the move to sign BC onto to Justice League as Brainiac, but like Professor Oak always said "The early bird gets the worm, or in this case the decorated British thespian." What do you think of Cumberbatch as Strange? Sound off in the comments.

Updates On the 'Ant-Man' and 'Doctor Strange' Movies

Since Marvel Studios' Ant-Man nabbed Peyton Reed (The Break-Up) to direct, not much else in terms  of news has come about the film. We still didn't know who the villain of the movie was. That was until yesterday when JoBlo.com reported that Paul Rudd's Scott Lang will most likely be battling villain Darren Cross. The Cross character in the comics has rare heart condition and is the owner of Cross Technological Enterprises, a competitor of Stark Industries and Oscorp in the Marvel Universe. Then today The Wrap's Jeff Sneider tweeted that actor Corey Stoll (House of Cards) will be playing the main baddie which will be Cross and Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) will play Cross's cousin William Cross aka Crossfire. Sneider also clarified that he does not know if Wilson's character will become Crossfire in this film or become him in future installments.

Glad to finally know what villain will be taking on Ant-Man. Let's hope Darren Cross can stack with other evil businessmen like Norman Osborn and Lex Luthor. The evil businessmen game is not for the for the faint of heart. Ant-Man is expected to start shooting soon and is to be in theaters July 2015.

Over in Doctor Strange's camp, Deadline reports that the production is bringing in Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts to rewrite the script. The original draft was penned by Thomas Dean Donnely and Joshua Oppenheimer. Scott Derrickson (Sinister) awaits the new script and will soon cast the role of the Sorcerer Supreme. Deadline then again reaffirmed that Marvel's shortlist for Strange is Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Tom Hardy (Warrior), and Jared Leto (American Psycho). Expect to hear casting soon.

'Doctor Strange' Gets Director; Wants Leto?

Variety is reporting that Scott Derrickson (Sinister) is Marvel Studios' choice for director for Doctor Strange. Derrickson was reported to be in the running for the job a few months back so his selection comes at no surprise. He has a history with horror so adapting to the world of Dr. Strange should be a smooth transition.
In other Doc Strange news, Badass Digest is claiming that Marvel likes the idea of Oscar winner Jared Leto (American Psycho) playing the role of the Sorcerer Supreme. An interesting rumor to say the least. What do you think of Leto as Strange? Who would you cast? Sound off in the comments.

I saw Dallas Buyers Club and thought it was great, but nothing in it can compare to the most amazing scene Jared leto has ever been a part of. Guess he didn't like Huey Lewis and The News.
