Goddamn beautiful! This movie is using it's R-rating to the fullest. This isn't your average mainstream superhero flick. It's a hard R action comedy with some crazy athletic sex scenes. Can't wait. Deadpool hits theaters in Feb. 2016.
Are you excited for Deadpool? Let us know in the comments or tweet at us @Caped_Informers or me @cstrand73. And make sure to tune in for our weekly Arrow,Flash, and Daredevilreviews.

Did someone say the Capey Awards?
Comic Movie of The Year Amazing Spiderman 2 Captain America: The Winter Solider Guardians of The Galaxy TMNT X-Men: Days Of Future Past Winner: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: The Winter Soldier only beat out Guardians of the Galaxy by a single vote. So in short you could say it was a great year for Marvel Studios. Both their films were both critical and box office successes, but we gave the edge to the Captain. His 70's esque political thriller was riveting. It also helps that it had Scarlet Johansson. Never hurts to throw in a little Scarjo
Best Sci-Fi Movie of The Year Dawn of The Planet of The Apes Edge of Tomorrow (Live, Die, Repeat) Godzilla Interstellar Snowpiercer Winner: Dawn Of The Planet Of the Apes
This was another tough race. All five movies were excellent sci-fi, but at the end of the day we choose Dawn. The apes may have been the most compelling characters in cinema in this year. It's truly amazing how great the reboot to the classics have been.
Best Lead Hero Captain America (Chris Evans) Spiderman (Andrew Garfield) Star Lord (Chris Pratt) Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) Caesar (Andy Serkis)
Winner: Captain America (Chris Evans)
No other hero has had as big of a character arc as Captain America has in his 3 movie appearances. He has gone from a government lap dog to full on rebel.
Best Supporting Hero Black Widow (Scar Jo) Falcon (Anthony Mackie) Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper) Professor X (James McAvoy) Groot (Vin Disel) Winner: Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper)
Rocket and Groot burst into the mainstream this year. It was another close race here. In the end thought the raccoon edged out the tree because of his brilliant prison escape. Best Villain The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) Ronan (Lee Pace) HYDRA Magneto (Michael Fassbender) Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford) Winner: HYDRA
HYDRA is that evil organization that you just can't help but love. HAIL HYDRA!
The Grab Bag Award Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) Quicksilver (Evan Peters) Drax (Bautista) Gamora (Zoe Saldana) Winner: Quicksilver (Evan Peters)
For having easily the coolest sequence this year, Qucicksilver gets the Capey!
Best Director Russo Bros. (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) James Gunn (Guardians of Galaxy) Brian Singer (X-Men: DOFP) Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) Chris Nolan (Interstellar)
Winner: Russo Bros. (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) The Russo Bros. came in and took over a character that had been under-appreciated within the MCU and turned him into a star. Best Movie Fight Cap 2 Fighting WS on the Highway TMNT vs. Shredder GOTG Prison Break X-Men Against Future Sentinels Spidey vs. Gobby Winner: Cap 2 Fighting WS on the Highway
Esquite knife work
Funniest Movie Scene Quicksilver Saves the Day Groot Murder a Few Guys Drax Steals a Dude's Knife Rocket Needs that Guy's Leg Captain America Goes to the Apple Store Winner: Rocket Needs that Guy's Leg
Best Elevator Scene Professor X Punching Magneto Gwen Stacy Meeting Max Dillon/Harry Osborn Cap Critically Injures 15 Guys The Turtles Jam session on the elevator Winner: Cap Critically Injures 15 Guys
2014 was truly the year of the elevator. Whether it was Gwen Stacy conveniently meeting both bad guys from Amazing Spiderman 2 or Cap beating the piss out of HYDRA agents, everything was happening on an elevator. Even in real life, shit was going down in elevators. Solange beat the shit of Jay-Z. Then Ray Rice struck his wife like the piece of shit Raven he is. Was just a crazy year behind those closed doors.
Worst Movie Villain (The Aldrin Killan Award) Electro Ronan The Rhino Green Goblin The Shredder Winner: Electro
Best Buds!
I have shat on Electro countless times before, so I won't do it again here. I would like to instead thank Marc Webb for providing 3 villains for this list. Great job buddy, keep up the good work. You made Aldrin Killan proud by filling out this category. Biggest Disappointment Amazing Spiderman 2 TMNT Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Winner: The Amazing Spiderman 2
Winner: Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach (Producers of TASM 2) Immediately after I wrote these nominations these two dumbasses were demoted. #IMadeItHappen #NotReally
Best Sexually Charged Moment
Hipster Cap and Black Widow make out on an escalator
Peter stalks Gwen as Spiderman
Gamora does not succumb to Star Lord's pelvic sorcery
Wolverine's ass shot
Winner: Wolverine's ass shot Last year, Hugh Jackman took home the Capey for best lead hero. This year he takes home the Capey for best ass. His wife must be proud.
Best Animated Movie
Justice League: War
Justice League: Throne of Atlantis
Batman: Assault on Arkham

Variety is reporting that Oscar Isaac (Sucker Punch) will play Apocalypse, a powerful ancient mutant and X-Men villain, in FOX's upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. There are a lot of rumors about the follow up to the critically acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past (such casting younger versions of Cyclops, Storm, and Jean Grey), but little has been confirmed. Director Brian Singer (Superman Returns) was quoted recently as saying "'Apocalypse' will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle." Sure sounds likeApocalypse will be raising the stakes for the X-Men-verse. What do you think of Isaac as Apocalypse? Sound off in the comments. X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27th, 2016.
Oscar Isaac is on a roll. First he nabs a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and now he is Apocalypse. It's always a treat to see a great actor like Isaac who has spent years working his way up the food chain get some awesome opportunities in franchise films. With his resume I have no doubt he will give us a fantastic rendition of En Sabah Nur.
The wait is over. Fox has announced that they will finally produce a X-Men spinoff film featuring everyone's favorite Merc with the mouth Deadpool. During San Diego Comic Con someone leaked test footage for a potential Deadpool film from director Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds (Waiting) in the titular role. Fox must have liked that the response to the clip which was unanimously positive and have finally greenlight the long awaited project. Deadpool will be released February 12th, 2016. Are you excited about the Deadpool movie? Sound off in the comments.
In a recent interview with the Huffington Post Prof X actor James McAvoy (Wanted) divulged that his character will finally lose his hair in the next X-Men installment. McAvoy said "I'll be older in this one, [And] I think I'm losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know. I got an email from the [producer/writer Simon Kinberg] who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know. It does seem fairly global, if we're talking apocalypse. Maybe it's just the character's name, but I think the nature of the film is going to be fairly apocalyptic." X-Men: Apocalypse is expected to start shooting in April and will be out in theaters in 2016.
It has been a bit quiet on the X-Men front since the success of Days of Future Past earlier this year. Well no longer! The X-Men will be heading for the Great White French North in April of next year to begin shooting for X-Men: Apocalypse. I am of course referring to Montreal, Canada when I throw the terms great, white, french and north around. The expected release date of the movie is set for sometime in 2016, but still exciting to see the wheels moving. Is this where we are going to get our first glimpse at Channing Tatum Gambit? Could this be one of the last times, if not THE last time we bear witness to Hugh the Wolverine Jackman? Tune in two years from now to find out!
Some interesting new title launches this week. Miguel O'Hara gets his own series. The Suicide Squad gets a roster update that includes Deathstroke and Black Manta. And lastly the first issue of Grayson will be hitting shelves. I despise the idea of Dick Grayson becoming a secret agent. That being said I still will be picking up Agents of D.I.C.K. (as I like to call it) this week to support the character.
1. New Suicide Squad #1 (DC)
2. Spiderman 2099 #1 (Marvel)
3. Amazing X-Men #9 (Marvel)
4. Detective Comics #33 (DC)
5. Grayson #1 (DC)

X-Men: Apocalypse will take place in 1983. Ten years after the events DOFP according to screenwriter Simon Kinberg.1983 is of course the year most remembered for McDonald's introducing the McNugget, but now the X-Men will have their chance leave their mark on that eventful year in US history.

Man Crush: James McAvoy
James McAvoy most widely known for playing young Professor X in X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: First Class. With his break out role in Wanted , McAvoy was catapulted into the limelight and onto the list of rising Hollywood stars. He has really shown his acting chops in films like Filth and Trance. With his stylish accent and piercing blue eyes he is a downright heartthrob. Professor X can mind-meld with me anyway.
"Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn't mean they can't be saved."

Character Crush: Nightwing
I love Dick, I mean Richard. Introduced as Batman's child sidekick Robin in 1940, Richard Grayson has come a long way since. He has left the Dark Knight's side to start his own superhero team the Teen Titians. He has dropped the Robin persona and adopted the new title Nightwing. Hell he has even spent some time as Batman, when Bruce Wayne went missing after battling Darkseid. I highly recommend Scott Snyder's The Black Mirror to any Dick lover out there. Dick is a completely different kind of Batman than Bruce and Snyder's grim tale captures their contrast entirely. That is what really makes Nightwing standout in the Bat-verse. He isn't the forever brooding paranoid vigilante like Bruce, but rather a more hopeful fighter of crime. He also is quite the ladies man in the DCU with a certain affinity for red heads. Keep feeling the aster, Dick!
"How come no one ever just feels whelmed"
Nightwing showing us once again that not having superpowers doesn't mean shit if your trained by Batman.
This week on the podcast, Brady and Christian discuss everything X-Men: DOFP. Then some other crazy shit comes up like always. Enjoy! (Recorded 5/29/14)
With X-Men: Days of Future Past dominating the box office, what better time than the present to evaluate the X-films from best to worst.
7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
Why?: This film takes the Weapon X storyline and wipes it's ass with it. With a boring plot, awful special effects, and characterizations that will make all X-fans cringe (WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO DEADPOOL!) X-Men Origins: Wolverine successfully creates a puke fest.
Worst of the Worst: SewingThe Merc with the Mouth's mouth shut.
6. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
Why?: Kelsey Grammar's Beast and Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde are nice additions to the ever expanding cast, but everything else in Brett Ratner's X-film is a huge disappointment. This movie unsuccessfully attempts to adapt The Dark Phoenix Saga. Ratner's lose vision and several pointless deaths hamper this third film.
A Moment of Greatness: The Juggernaut!
5. X-Men (2000)
Why?: This is the film that showed the general public that comic book movies can be taken seriously. Bryan Singer's first trek into the X-verse is a fun time that gives the X-Men a proper movie adaption. Characters like Cyclops fall short, but X-Men is a fine introduction to everyone's favorite mutants.
Fight Night: Beat down in the Statue of Liberty.
4. The Wolverine (2013)
Why?: A great character piece that adequately adapts Claremont and Miller's Japan Saga. Hugh Jackman once again shines as Logan and Rila Fukushima as Yukio is just excellent. The climax scene with the Silver Samurai and the twist that everyone saw coming a mile away are downers in an otherwise great story.
Badass: Wolverine vs. Shingen!
3. X-Men: First Class (2011)
Why?: This movie re-envigorated the franchise. With a completely new cast and a 60's setting, Matt Vaughn was able to tell us the story of the beginning of the X-Men. The First class may not be exact the original five (Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman, and Angel are the originals), but the main players for later films are there. Michael Fassbender especially stands out as Magneto while McAvoy, Lawrence, and Hoult were all welcome additions to the X-Men movie verse.
Holy Shit: Frankenstien's monster!
2. X2: X-Men United (2003)
Why?: The Raid on the X-Mansion. Nightcrawler in the Whitehouse. The Brotherhood and X-Men teaming up. This film is full of great moments. Brian Cox's Stryker is the most fleshed out villain of the series, besides Magneto of course. And this film excellently adapts the classic X-storyline God Loves, Man Kills.
BAMF: Nightcrawler assassination attempt!
1. X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014)
Why?: The newest installment of the franchise is just plain awesome. Stellar cast, direction, and story. Infusing the best of new cast and the best of the old cast led to cinema magic. Check out my review for further insights.
WOW!: This film is full of worthy moments. This is the only one I could find on Youtube.
I can't wait until X-Men: Apocalypse. So then we have this discussion all over again. For more X-Men coverage follow us on Twitter @Caped_Informers or follow me @cstrand73. What's your list look like? Sound off in the comments.
In an interview with The Daily Beast, X-Men: Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg confirmed that some of the original X-Men trilogy cast will return for X-Men: Apocalypse."It will focus primarily on the First Class cast, but it will certainly have some of the original cast involved, too." Kinberg told the interviewer. So that pretty much confirms some more good old fashioned time travel. This next film seems like the perfect time for the franchise to cast it's younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. Hell if there is enough room bring in Gambit and Cable. The more the merrier. Can't wait for 2016 to see what happens to Wolverine and the rest of the gang in the 70's. #TeamBoneClaws. X-Men: Apocalypse is expected in 2016.
Happy Memorial Day everyone! Let's crush on some dudes.
Man Crush: Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy first caught my attention in Chris Nolan's Inception, but it was not until I watched Warrior in 2011 that I thought this guy is a star. Hardy played the role of Tommy Conlon. He was able to showcase his acting prowess as well as show off his physicality. I mean the dude has the biggest traps I have ever seen. So when Chris Nolan announced that Hardy would portray Bane in the final Dark Knight film, I was over the moon. Hardy brought a menacing presence to the villain and with most of his face covered by a mask his eyes spoke volumes. Not to mention he spoke in perhaps a voice that is even more fun to imitate than Bale's Batman growl. But above all that Hardy is my man crush because of his fight with Batman in the sewer. Every line that comes from his Bane while he beats the Dark Knight into submission is quotable and just plain awesome. Thanks Tom. Once this MCM is posted, you have my permission to call me.
"Ah, yes, I was wondering what would break first. Your spirit, or your body!"
-Christian
Character Crush: Colossus
Colossus is the metal morphing and super strong member of the X-Men. First introduced in 1975 he has become a staple in the X-men franchise ever since. Colossus has been my favorite X Man since they introduced him into the movies in X2. That was the first time when he finally got to show off his powers. When he is in his metal form Colossus doesn't need sleep, food, water, and his body has resistance to any metal on the planet except Vibranium. He is a soft spoken, gentle, and caring individual he has a had a long lasting relationship with Kitty Pryde but with Doop stepping in it doesn't look good for Peter. Colossus is a great X-Man, while he doesn't get the publicity like others do he is a great character and often keeps the other more impulsive members in their place. He is the strong moral center that every team needs.
Today's song shoutout goes out to all the X-Men, but particularly Wolverine. Great job traveling to the swinging 70's to stop the Sentinels! Now let's party and bullshit!
The mutants are back on the silver screen today. So the Informers went to an early show to check out X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Expect very mild spoilers.
What We Liked:
Great infusion of new and old casts
The film promotes the X-Men message
The struggle of Mystique
Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique character evolution since First Class
Quicksilver's incredibly fun sequence
Young Prof. X's character arc, Great acting from James McAvoy
The always imposing Michael Fassbender's Magneto
70's Wolverine's Bone Claws
Fun Rewrites of US History
Inventive uses for mutant's abilities
Excellent fight sequences in future + past
The entire Paris Summit Sequence
The 70's style vs. the bleak future
Time Travel Humor
The always evolving relationship of Prof. X and Magneto
References to past X-films
Design of the Sentinels in past + future
Bobby Drake finally Ice sliding!
Time Travel is not overly confusing
What We Didn't Like:
Bolivar Trask's motivations were a little weak
Continues the superhero movie trend of a need for "super blood"
Scenes with unneeded mutants like Havoc, Toad, and etc.
No Doop
Review: X-Men: Days Of Future Past combines the best components of X-Men: First Class and Bryan Singer's X-Men trilogy to create the best X-Men movie to date. The film utilizes all of it's stellar cast to tell a story of Wolverine, the always fantastic Hugh Jackman, being sent back to the 70's to stop a bleak future from ever happening. Now while Wolverine often has gotten the most attention of any X-Man in all the films, Days of Future Past is able to more neatly balance it's other characters so it does not feel like a movie called "Wolverine and some other guys". Particularly we get a great character arc from younger Prof. X (James McAvoy) who has hit rock bottom after losing his legs and Raven/Mystique. Charles's relationship with Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is as interesting as ever as the two must unite to stop Mystique from committing an act that creates the dystopian future. While on the topic of Lawrence's Mystique, her character has evolved a lot since we last saw her. Lawrence is impressive in every sequence she is in as her actions drive much of the film's plot. Overall the newest X-Men installment is extremely satisfying on all levels. For it's incredible action, balance of humor + action + gravitas, and top notch performances the Informers give X-Men: Days of Future Past a 9.5 out of 10. The best superhero movie of the year so far and a must-see for all X-Men fans. Can't for X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016.
Check out our podcast that will be posted this weekend to hear more about the movie. Until then make sure to follow us on Twitter @Caped_Informers and or follow me @cstrand73 to stay up to date on all things comics. Thanks for reading! What did you think of the movie? Sound off in the comments.
