New Gotham Trailer Reveals Even More Villains

Check out the newest Gotham trailer featuring some sneak peeks of some of Batman's most iconic villains.

Sal Maroni, Professor Pyg, Mr. Zsasz, and even a possible Scarecrow. Jesus man, is any villain gonna be left to fight after this first season? Is season 2 gonna have to be a season long arc against KG Beast because everyone else will have already been used because it's starting to look that way. With rumors of the Joker, Killer Croc and Mr. Freeze also on the horizon this really could be the case.

Poor KG Beast

Personally if I was in charge of plotting this 1st season I would have exclusively focused in on the Wayne's murder and the Falcone-Mooney-Maroni gang war. Have Cobblepot building up his own crew in the background and Nygma doing weird shit at the police headquarters. Then causally use just a few low key villains like Pyg or Zsasz. Not just blow through every Batman villain ever created so early on.

This show was supposed to be about Jim Gordon and not just about following pre-villains before they morph into the future geriatric baddies they will be when they finally fight Batman. Well at least there are no current rumors that Bruce Wayne will befriend a strange girl named Harleen Quinnzel. That will help me sleep at night.

What do you think of the upcoming season of Gotham? Too many villains? Sound off in the comments. And check out our Gotham reviews every Monday.

Gotham "Selina Kyle" Review/Thoughts

This week's Gotham episode titled "Selina Kyle" surprising has very little Selina Kyle to go along with a very "by the numbers" procedural case.

Episode DescriptionDetectives Gordon and Bullock investigate a child trafficking ring preying on Gotham’s street kids, including Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova). Meanwhile, Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) resurfaces in the countryside and begins to make his way back to GOTHAM, leaving victims in his wake.

High Points

  • Jim Gordon and Barbara Kean are a solid moral compass
  • Oswald's killing spree is fun
  • Excited to see Mooney's power play against Falcone
  • Professor Pyg?
  • Bullock and Gordon remain an interesting pair

Low Points:

  • Boring "by the numbers" case
  • Absolutely no tension or suspension
  • Lame ass kidnappers
  • Lame shootouts once again
  • Still hate Hardo Alfred
  • David Mazouz's performance was cringe-worthy
  • Unexciting case conclusion
  • Episode titled Selina Kyle has little Selina Kyle
  • Beginning to feel like just another network procedural
Verdict: Gotham's second episode did little to utilize the show's potential. Bullock and Gordon  go on a "by the numbers" no surprises case that gave the audience zero tension and zero connection to any of the kids being kidnapped except Selina. And she only spoke once before being nabbed. Sure McKenzie's Gordon and Logue's Bullock have an interesting working relationship but that main storyline was just a total dud. Thank god for Oswald Cobblepot and dare I say Fish Mooney. Ozzy's killing spree as he makes his way back to the city is a load of fun. While Mooney's future play against Carmine Falcone is the only story line I am actually interested in. So overall I give Gotham's second episode a 5.5 out of 10. Once again this show isn't bad, but it sure as hell isn't good. I hope the impending mob war and perhaps even Prof. Pyg help bolster this frustrating ordinary show.

"Avengers: Age Of Ultron" First Trailer Attached to "Interstellar"

Everyone going to see Christopher Nolan and Matthew Mcconaughey's space epic Interstellar on Nov. 7th will get the first peek of Marvel Studios' Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Not much is known about Joss Whedon's follow up to the third highest grossing movie of all time except that it will feature Earth's Mightiest Heroes going against their greatest threat yet the robot Ultron and it probably will kick major ass. Lets hope it lives up to the hype!

All I want to see is the Hulk crush Stark's Hulkbuster armor. He needs to fuck that piece of shit machine up. And in the process make what he did to Loki seem like a relaxing massage.

Gotham "Pilot" Review/Thoughts

After months of anticipation and hype Gotham is finally here. Ben Mckenzie steps up to the task of portraying a young Jim Gordon, but this pilot isn't without it's flaws...

Episode Description: Rookie detective James Gordon battles villains and corruption in the premiere of this action-adventure series set in pre-Batman Gotham City.

High Points

  • Jim Gordon does a little bit of detective work
  • Selina Kyle is agile
  • Solid characterization of Carmine Falcone
  • Fish Mooney was interesting
  • Robin Lord Taylor is an intriguing yet different Oswald Cobblepot
  • Donal Logue is a solid Bullock and Mckenzie is a solid Gordon
  • The look of Gotham is beautiful
  • Barbara Kean is pretty :)
  • Gotham City is a shithole like it should be
  • Enjoyed the final 10 minutes

Low Points

  • Overall slow pace
  • Boring action pieces
  • Terrible shootouts
  • Hardo Alfred is a Hardo
  • Ivy Pepper and her family cause volatile body reactions
  • Shoving several classic villains into the pilot
  • Would like more Bruce
  • People already calling Oswald "Penguin"

Verdict: I'm not going to lie, I had low expectations for this show. My heart belongs to the Batman universe and anyone who I believe is attempting to harm it automatically becomes my enemy. Everything I heard about this show going into its premiere made me think that I would detest it. To my surprise that wasn't the case. I didn't hate Gotham, but I sure as hell didn't love it either. The show has a good cast and the potential to be a new take on the tale of the early days of the comic world's most infamous city. Yet this first episode felt very slow. It also felt like a chance to cram every DC villain the general audience knows into one episode. Hopefully this series overcomes pilot syndrome and can turn into a interesting take on the early Batman mythos. Oswald Cobblepot was a standout character for me though. I wanna see more of him climbing the ranks and being a slippery fuck. Overall I give the pilot episode of Gotham a 6 out of 10. This show has potential, lets hope it lives up to it.

Rumor: WB Wants David Ayer to Direct "Suicide Squad"

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. is interested in director David Ayer (Training Day) to helm a movie based on DC Comics' popular team the Suicide Squad. While neither Ayer or the studio has confirmed this report, it is a hot rumor especially considering WB has yet to reveal any of their 9 DC related projects that have set release dates. Suicide Squad is certainly an interesting spot to fill one of those spots. Supposedly along with Ayer, Justin Marks, who is also writing Top Gun 2, will be writing the screenplay and Dan Lin will be producing. What do you think about a potential Suicide Squad movie? Sound off in the comments.

Source: Variety

Ayer is the real deal. Training Day and End of Watch kick ass and his upcoming WW2 film Fury looks great as well. So I'm all onboard for him taking over Task Force X.

The real key to this film though is picking the Squad's lineup. Deadshot is a must. Amanda Waller will be in charge. But then after that things get tricky. So let's talk about the elephant in the room. Do you have Harley Quinn in the movie? I think the answer is a yes. Harley may have only just recently joined the Squad, but her massive appeal and connection to the Bat-verse make her a powerful addition to the team. Her comic is a top seller for DC making this the time to strike. Bring Harley to the big screen!

This has nothing to do with Suicide Squad, but I think the DC Cinematic Universe should definitely use Batinder.

Nick Tarabay To Play Captain Boomerang on "Arrow"

Nick Tarabay (Star Trek: Into Darkness) has become the 4th Spartacus: Blood and Sand alum to be cast on CW's Arrow. He will appear as Flash villain Digger Harkness aka Captain Boomerang. Along wight the casting news, a short description of the character was also given. "Harkness will be a former A.R.G.U.S operative, highly skilled in martial arts and espionage, with a deadly thirst for vengeance against his former employers." Tarabay is to appear in the 7th episode of Arrow and then jump over to the 8th episode of fellow series Flash.

Gotta love the CW shared universe. I'm excited to see these two shows sharing villains and story lines. Tarabay will be a great addition to the universe's ever expanding roster of villains. He was a real son of a bitch as Ashur on Spartacus and I expect nothing less of him for his portrayal of Harkness.

Plus I love that the Rogues are continuing to assemble. Miller, Purcell, and Tarabay as Cold, Heatwave, and Boomerang are a great start to bringing together one of the best villainous teams.

Hell Boomerang could even be a member of Suicide Squad/Task Force X at some point. I would like to see a back and forth between him and Michael Rowe's Deadshot.

James Spader is going to be great as Ultron. He will be the second legitimate villain in the MCU besides Loki. Mark my words.

The trailer should be coming coming soon for this most anticipated sequel. Until then just reading this synopsis gets me excited!

Teen Titans Live Action Show Could Be Coming To TNT

DC is taking over TV. The comics company already has two shows on CW in Arrow and Flash and the highly anticipated Gotham is set to debut on Fox this month. Hell even the mystical side of the DC universe will be explored in Constantine on NBC. Now Deadline is reporting that TNT is developing a Teen Titans show called Titians with Dick Grayson/Nightwing as its lead. The site says "Titans revolves around the eponymous group of young Super Heroes-to-be from the DC Universe. The action series centers on Dick Grayson (probably best known for his alter ego as Robin), who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others." Writer Akiva Goldsman (Batman and Robin) has written the pilot along with Marc Haimes (The Last Word). The project is expected to be green light for a pilot order soon.

Now I've been clamoring for Dick Grayson/Nightwing on Arrow or in a DC movie for some time now. Never anticipated he would first appear on a Teen Titians show. Always thought it could work better as a movie, but I am willing to give this show a chance only because Dick is the lead.

But God as my witness if this TNT crap doesn't allow for Dick to enter the DC Cinematic Universe in some capacity there will be hell to pay. I need to see Nightwing and Batman team up on the big screen before I die. Especially after what Chris O'donnell did to the character in the 90's. Who wrote those films by the way? O that's right, Akiva Goldsman. Glad this show is in good hands! Goldsman partnered together with a TV Budget is a match made in heaven. Most likely there will not be enough money for CGI for Beast Boy or Cyborg. And if there is any CGI it will probably water down both Starfire and Raven's powers. But then again TNT knows drama so I have the upmost confidence.

James McAvoy Will Be Bald In The Next X-Men!

In a recent interview with the Huffington Post Prof X actor James McAvoy (Wanted) divulged that his character will finally lose his hair in the next X-Men installment. McAvoy said "I'll be older in this one, [And] I think I'm losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know. I got an email from the [producer/writer Simon Kinberg] who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know. It does seem fairly global, if we're talking apocalypse. Maybe it's just the character's name, but I think the nature of the film is going to be fairly apocalyptic." X-Men: Apocalypse is expected to start shooting in April and will be out in theaters in 2016.

First Teaser Image From Batman: Endgame

What a night for Twitter teases! It is no secret that we here at The Informers are huge fans of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's current Batman run. The Court Of Owls is the equivalent of the Bible for this site. So you can guess that we are quite excited for the duo's next arc Endgame. Very little is known about it except that it will deal with a large cast of both heroes and villains. Writer Scott Snyder gave us our first clue about what heroes could be involved by posting this picture to his Twitter earlier tonight. The tweet reads "late night #endgame tease".

That sure looks like Wonder Woman's silver bracelet to me! Is Wonder Woman gonna kick Bruce's ass? Can't wait until October to find out!

New Picture of the Batmobile!

Zack Snyder has released a new picture of the Batmobile via his Twitter. It's everything fans have wanted and more. #FuckTheTumbler

X-Men: Apocalypse Set to Start Shooting in April

It has been a bit quiet on the X-Men front since the success of Days of Future Past earlier this year. Well no longer! The X-Men will be heading for the Great White French North in April of next year to begin shooting for X-Men: Apocalypse. I am of course referring to Montreal, Canada when I throw the terms great, white, french and north around. The expected release date of the movie is set for sometime in 2016, but still exciting to see the wheels moving. Is this where we are going to get our first glimpse at Channing Tatum Gambit? Could this be one of the last times, if not THE last time we bear witness to Hugh the Wolverine Jackman? Tune in two years from now to find out!
