Brain Azzarello and Cliff Chang have taken us on one hell of a ride with Diana since the start of the new 52. While tweaking the Princess of Themyscrica's origin, the creative team was also able to inject new life into the title. They utilized the book's supporting characters to their fullest potentials culminating in Wonder Woman becoming the god of war. She even has a great new enemy in the form of the First Born. This book just oozed excellence from the start of the first issue. Azz and Cliff's game changing run will end with issue #35 in October.
The new creative team will be the husband and wife duo of David and Meredith Finch. David will provide his Forever Evil-style penciling, while Meredith will be taking over the writing duties. It's great to see a female writer take over the Wonder Woman title, but I have never anything from Meredith before. Let's hope she is up for the challenge of writing for one of DC's Holy Trinity. The couple's run will begin with issue #36 in November.
At the beginning of last year the Green Arrow title was in shambles. DC turned to Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino to revive it. The duo did more than just make this title viable. They turned it into a must buy every month. I mean there was a reason they won the Capey for best comic for last year. Lemire expanded Green Arrow's universe while putting Oliver in some absolutely crazy situations. All while Sorrentino provided some of the most beautiful art and splash pages you have ever seen. The Outsiders War is already a classic, in fact all of their 17 issues together are.
The new creative team comes straight from the writing staff of CW's Arrow. Andrew Kreisberg and Ben Sokolowski will be taking over for Lemire starting with issue #36. The two writers look to inject a little of CW's Arrow into the series while also bringing back some of Ollie's old school leftist politics. Looking forward to see what the boys have in store of the Emerald Archer.
It's about damn time! Deathstroke will again be getting his own series written and drawn by Tony S. Daniel. The character's popularity is at an all time high due to his recent portrayal by Manu Bennett on CW's Arrow making it a perfect time for DC to try to attempt to hook some of their TV viewers into comics. The character is will also be featured as a member of Task Force X in the reboot of The Suicide Squad.
Daniels is a great artist, but his writing can be spotty. But just take one look at this amazing cover and no matter how ridiculous the storyline is, you will be forced to buy this first issue.
